Two groups of youngsters attending the Outside of School Hours holiday program were given the opportunity to tour the court house and learn about what happens there.
Educator Renee Duggan said the tour was lead by court house staff member Leonie Finn, who was “very informative and kept everyone engaged”.
“Leonie gave us a guided tour through what happens in a court house, and gave the children a really good feel of what being in a court room is like.
“We were also shown the cells and the judges rooms - everywhere really.
“We spent an hour there with each group - the older group and younger group - and Leonie was really great at answering all their questions; she didn’t miss a thing.
“On the walk back (to the OOSH centre) I asked the children what they thought, and a lot of them said it made them realise they don’t ever want to get into trouble.
“It was a great educational experience for them.”
The community connections excursions give children an insight into many different businesses and organisations in the community.
In the past it has also included excursions to the local dentists, supermarket and other places.
The last time the court house was included in the excursions was in 2018.
