Mr Kennedy is the lead candidate on a ticket of five for the election, the ticket containing Bethany Robinson, Lisa Starr, Robert Purtle OAM and Rodney Woods.
During his four-year-term – the term being extended one year due to Covid-19 – he has been keen to see continuing development in town.
“During this time, I have pushed for some major projects in Mulwala including the all-abilities playground (Purtle Park Adventure Playground) and Mulwala Industrial Estate,” he said. “I would love to see some aged care, doctors and child care facilities in Mulwala.
“I will be pushing for more development for Mulwala.”
With his two younger brothers, Cr Kennedy runs Kennedy Builders Mulwala which was started by his parents in 1974. The business proudly sponsors many sporting clubs in Mulwala and Yarrawonga.
He and wife Leanne have three sons, Jack, Tom and Ben.
Number 2 on the Kennedy ticket is Bethany Robinson who has grown up in Mulwala, in a family that has always had strong ties to the community.
She is mother to two young children, a fourth generation of her family to attend Mulwala Public School – her daughter currently attends – and was captain of Corowa High School in 2006.
A very community-minded person, Bethany is secretary of Section 355 Lonsdale Recreation Reserve Committee and on the planning committee for Purtle Park Adventure Playground.
“I am extremely passionate about the community and our region,” she said.
“I want to ensure that as our population grows, plans are put in place to ensure adequate health care, child care and recreation facilities are provided to support our communities as well as growth for businesses.”
Lisa Starr and Rodney Woods are also actively involved in the community and very community-minded. Lisa is Rennie Netball President. Rodney of Woods Bus Lines and Woods Freight is a strong supporter and sponsor of sporting clubs.
And Robert Purtle OAM, of course, is Mulwala Progress Association President. The long-time president and his family are so passionate about Mulwala, with parks and playgrounds named after his dad and himself.
