Jordan Spencer, 33, of Shepparton, faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a filing hearing on Wednesday, January 31.
She is charged with attempted murder, intentionally causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence and intentionally causing serious injury.
The charges relate to an incident in Middlesex Cres, Shepparton, on January 15 where it will be alleged Ms Spencer threw an accelerant on another woman and then used a lighter to ignite it.
The 20-year-old alleged victim was flown to Melbourne’s The Alfred Hospital with critical injuries, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
Ms Spencer was also flown to The Alfred hospital suffering burns, and remained under police guard during her time there.
She was charged over the incident on Tuesday, January 31.
In a brief 10-minute appearance in court on Wednesday, Ms Spencer’s defence counsel said she had suffered burns to her body and spent some of her time in hospital in an induced coma.
“She’s been in a coma and is still a bit lost as to what has happened,” he said.
The defence counsel said Ms Spencer was “still in a great deal of pain” and asked that she be moved to prison as soon as possible.
“It’d be better if … she be put in a situation where there’s a bit more comfort for her,” he said.
The defence counsel also asked that Ms Spencer’s mental health be watched in prison.
The defence lawyer did not apply for bail.
Ms Spencer was remanded in custody until her next court appearance at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in June.
