Yarrawonga and Tungamah will be hosting their own ceremonies with the Federation Council award ceremony to be held at ClubMulwala.
Yarrawonga’s Australia Day program:
7.15am – 8.30am Free cooked breakfast provided by the Rotary Club of Yarrawonga Mulwala.
7am – 8.45am Entertainment by Ray Macartney. Ray will be singing popular songs with an Aussie theme.
8.45amFlag raising ceremony followed by the singing of the national anthem.
8.50amWelcome by the President of the Rotary Club of Yarrawonga – Mulwala, Cate Febey.
9amGuest speaker Ross Mulquiney.
9.10amPresentation of Australia Day awards.
9.25amComments from Moira Shire Councilors Julie Brooks and Peter Mansfield.
9.30amCeremony concludes to allow all present to be involved in other activities organised in the area for this special day.
Please bring along chairs if you have any, as only a limited number of chairs will be available on site.
Tungamah
Tungamah’s ceremony will take place from 8am at the Lions Park by the Boosey Creek with a traditional Lions club breakfast, alongside some entertainment.
The award ceremony will follow breakfast. Please bring your own seating as it will be all outdoors with limited seating available.
Federation Council
The celebrations for the Federation Council will begin with a breakfast at 8am at ClubMulwala, Mulwala before the official event kicks off at 10am.
The official ceremony will begin with a Welcome to Country before attendees will hear from the 2023 Australia Day Ambassador, Ms Ange Clarke.
Following Ms Clarke will be the announcement of the Federation Council Citizen of the Year Award, Young Citizen of the Year Award, Community Group the Year Award, and recognition of the Federation Council Local Achiever recipients.
Federation Council will then acknowledge their youngest residents whose school has specially nominated them for their sporting, community, and academic achievements under the Student Achiever Awards.
Attendees will also celebrate together as the shire welcome new Australians who today become citizens, before joining together for the singing of the national anthem led by local singers, Judy McNamara and Penny Reeves.
