YMCLC recently took part in this year's Neighbourhood Houses Victoria Survey which identified that YMCLC provided over $6.29 million in value to the community.
YMCLC Executive Officer Julie-Anne Clarke said the survey provided proof of their extensive and impactful wrap-around services.
“The Neighbourhood House Victoria Survey aims to quantify and highlight the community value generated by Neighbourhood Houses across the state,” Ms Clarke said.
“The results that YMCLC received demonstrate the significant impact the organisation is having on improving the quality of life, providing essential services and promoting community development with the local community.”
The survey’s results below highlighted the centre’s impacts in 2023;
•Through social connection activities, such as the Community Connections & Resilience Program and Talking Café, YMCLC has significantly enhanced the quality of life for community members, which was valued at $123,752.
•YMCLC benefits from 80 volunteer hours per week, contributing $257,945 in value through their dedication and service.
•YMCLC was proud to be the Yarrawonga distribution point to have circulated $910,249 worth of food and groceries to those in need and to have distributed 34,440 kgs of food relief throughout the year.
•YMCLC’s educational programs are a key part of what they offer the community, these programs are funded significantly through government subsidies.
•YMCLC offers various services, including computer/internet usage, facility hire, tax help, community meals, and fee-for-service activities, which are collectively valued at $183,521.
•For every $1 of income, YMCLC generates $7.85 in community value. Their services are crucial, with a return of $55.04 for every $1 of Neighbourhood House Coordination Program funding.
•The centre creates employment opportunities, providing 12.5 full-time equivalent jobs, including 9 direct and 3.5 indirect positions.
•They assisted 188 community members and helped secure $47,000 in Power Saving Bonuses for community members, helping to ease financial burdens for many households.
•Through their diverse programs and activities, it was highlighted that YMCLC meets the evolving needs of a growing community, through their adaptability and responsiveness.
•The centre’s volunteers are invaluable, providing essential services that foster community connection, support, and development.
•YMCLC’s commitment to creating an empowering and welcoming environment is evident through its tailored programs, small class sizes and dedicated staff, enhancing the overall community experience.
“YMCLC continues to make a profound impact on the Yarrawonga Mulwala community, demonstrating real value through its comprehensive services and unwavering commitment to improving lives, which is 2023 was valued at $6,293,905,” Ms Clarke said.
