Corowa and Mulwala locals, John Knight, youngest son of Alma and Frederick Knight of " Bolinda Glen" Corowa and Elizabeth "Betty" Corboy, identical twin to Maree, youngest daughter to Alice and Phillip Corboy of "Bylands" and Hume Street Mulwala will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary tomorrow, Thursday, October 17.
Attending the small county schools of "Valarka" and "Teramia", John and Betty’s paths did not cross again until Betty returned from Melbourne nursing and working as a Mother Craft nurse at the Corowa hospital in 1963.
John was admitted after a chainsaw injury which resulted in surgery and significant rehabilitation time in hospital, where love blossomed.
After a first date at the Yarrawonga drive in movie theatre, they were married at the age of 25 on October 17, 1964 at St Bridget's Church Mulwala attended by the wedding party of Frederick Knight, Kevin Cooper, Mary Hargreaves and Margaret Oswald.
Making their home once married at the Knight family property "Bolinda Glen " Corowa, that currently remains the family farm, they raised 3 children, Peter, Rodney and Narelle, and now have a nine grandchildren.
John and Betty have since moved into Corowa, where they continue to enjoy their retirement while John still helps out on the family farm most days.
Congratulations on the milestone John and Betty, and here is to many more happy years together.
