The 2023/24 Community Strengthening Grants Program had a total budget of $185,000 and were offered in three streams - major up to $10,000 (two rounds per annum), quick response up to $1,000 (always open), and quick response up to $5000 (always open).
Round one was open for applications via Smarty Grants in September/October 2023.
The Yarrawonga and surrounds projects that received grant funding include:
Yarrawonga Bowls Club – Internal painting
The grant will assist to repaint the inside of the premises completely by a contractor due to aging members being unable to complete the work themselves..
The total project cost is $16,5000 with a recommended grant contribution of $7000.
“A good project that would enhance the clubrooms,” the assessment panel comments read.
“The club are contributing a large sum to the project. The facility is well utilised by the club and other community groups and schools.
“Note: this project was considered by the Panel as a maintenance project as opposed to a capital project.”
Other projects included in the program include a new electronic scoreboard to the Katunga Football Netball Club, an improvement to the playing surface for the Katunga Cricket Club, tennis court fencing for Kotupna Ladies Club, mural on the public amenities at Mivo Park Cobram, covered entrance to Picola Heritage Park, repainting of the Numurkah SES unit and the Nathalia New Year’s Eve Carnival.
Council received 16 applications for the first round of the 2023/24 Community Strengthening Grants Program. Thirteen of the applications passed the pre-eligibility stage.
Following assessment, eight were recommended for funding at a total cost of $69,555.50.
To date council have currently distributed a total of $39,519.65 through the CSG program.
