Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Emonson said the plan will identify opportunities to leverage the corridor’s qualities to attract young families, promote key industries, and improve local amenities.
“The corridor plan will tackle issues such as housing shortages, planning reforms and economic development strategies, ensuring the region can grow local jobs and draw in new residents,” he said.
“We welcome the community to view the discussion paper, explore the proposed strategic moves and share your ideas on how to attract more people to the area, enhance local infrastructure and promote the region as a major food producing hub.”
Home to almost 6,700 residents, the region provides over $1.1 billion annually to the local economy.
New investments are bringing transformation to the region, while its agricultural and industrial assets play a key role in Victoria’s food production sector.
However, a housing shortage is limiting the region’s ability to accommodate the new workers and families essential to its growth.

Submissions close Monday, November 11.
Following the end of community input on the plan, the council is set to release the draft corridor plan in February next year for community engagement.
