The Gateball demonstration held on Sunday, February 23 at the club was well attended with 7 expert players travelling from Melbourne to conduct the session.
Participants were guided through all the required game skills including slides, touches, sparks and much more, it is a complex game.
Following some encouragement, everyone had the opportunity to play a game alongside experienced players who provided further tips and hints for shot improvements.
It was a very informative and successful session which finished with a BBQ, tea, coffee and great conversation.
The Committee were very appreciative of those who travelled from Melbourne to demonstrate the game, to participants who travelled from other clubs and for all who participated and assisted in the organisation of the session, with particular thanks to club member Cheryl O’Dwyer.
Tuesday 18 – the club had 19 players on court with congratulations to Cheryl O’Dwyer as the winner making 19 hoops and equal runners-up Karen Conduit and Nancy Brooks making 16 hoops each.
Thursday 20 - 6 players participated with Lesley Dean prevailing with 18 hoops followed by Nancy Brooks finishing on 15 hoops.
Friday 21 - was an amazing morning session with two games played in excellent conditions. 21 players took part and once again, it was a great environment for sharing tips and tricks, funny stories and lots of laughs.
The club is very lucky to have experienced players willing each week to share their skills and knowledge in the Friday “come and try” session.
There is a break for tea and coffee between games and you may play just one or both games, for a total cost of $4.
Saturday 22 - saw 13 players competing across two games and congratulations went to winner Lois Fiddes making 15 hoops and demonstrating how close play was, equal runners-up were Wendy Wiltshire and Kaye Black on 14 hoops apiece.
Another excellent week for the club, well done to all who participated.
