There’s only one more weekend of finals to be played before the local football season is over, and the community is getting behind the two Rams teams flying the club flag tomorrow.

Displays have popped up in shopfront windows in the CBD, but it’s the display at Deni Yamaha that is turning the most heads.
Owner Paul White’s daughter plays in the Rams under-17s, and he’s paying tribute to her team and the under-15s with his display.
A mannequin wearing a Rams netball dress stands in the back of an ATV, which is covered in blue and yellow balloons and streamers.
It is parked beside the Napier St business, and seen clearly from the highway by anyone who passes by.
The Rams netballers will be vying for Murray League grand final glory in Moama tomorrow.

Look to the skies
We’ve been given a heads up that there could be a very special sight above Deniliquin on the odd ocassion this weekend.
Wirraway plane joy flights are being offered at the Tocumwal Air Show this weekend.
Deni’s Wayne Bradley is told some of those flights may head in our direction.
So if you happen to hear a droning above you this weekend, make sure to look up.
The Wirraway was used prominently in Deniliquin during World War II when the No. 7 Service Flying Training School was in operation at the Deniliquin Aerodrome.
Aviation history book launch
On the topic of the flying school, a book recounting the impact it had on the Deniliquin and district community will be launched in Deniliquin this weekend.
Various publications have recorded for posterity a vast range of times with identified historic importance, there has never been a detailed book on No. 7 SFTS.
This has at long last been rectified thanks to Challenging Times, written by Deniliquin historian Betty Mathews.
This book is a quality publication which will serve as a fitting historical record not just of the region’s contribution to the RAAF during World War II, but also further delving into the history of aviation in the Riverina.
It will be launched at the Deniliquin RSL Club, Mountbatten Room at 5pm on Sunday. The public is invited to attend the launch.
Books will be available at the launch, then afterwards at Collins Booksellers Echuca, or from Wayne Bradley (0428 811 603) or Betty Mathews (0438 877 051).
Guest speaker at the launch will be Squadron Leader Bruce Waxman, who will attend with his wife Dr Felicity Hawker.
Sesame Street meets King Gizzard
A video of Sesame Street favourites Elmo and Abby Cadabby being introduced to King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard has this week popped into the news feed of one of our correspondents.
Based in Melbourne, Deni claims some connection to the band through drummer Michael Cavanagh.
Former Deni man Eric Moore was also in the band, before leaving to concentrate on his Flightless Bird record label.
While the video is a few weeks old now, we all know we don’t always see everything that happens in the social media world as soon as it happens. So we had to share.
The video was posted by Triple J, and shows DJ Lucy Smith exposing the young puppets to some Australian bands.
King Gizzard and their song Plan B was first cab off the rank.
Elmo’s initial response was to say ‘woah!’, while Abby danced along and almost got in to a full head bang.
Almost in unison, the puppets said they thought the band would appeal to Oscar the Grouch best.
King Gizzard wrapped up a tour of Europe and the UK earlier this month, and have already started promoting their US tour in 2024.
Maybe with Elmo and Abby as new fans - and potentially Oscar - they’ll play to even bigger shows when they return to the States.
Warmer weather ahead
Spring is ready to live up to its name.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast picture-perfect conditions until at least Tuesday, after which windy conditions are expected.
Maximum temperatures will climb to 27°C today and tomorrow - just in time for Murray Football Netball League grand final day at Moama - and to 33°C on Monday.
“High pressure is dominating much of south-eastern Australia,” BOM senior meteorologist Dean Narramore said.
“It is going to bring dry, sunny weather ... we’re going to see temperatures in the mid to high 20s.”
The forecast is for sunny conditions throughout, with the BOM pinpointing a five per cent chance of rain each day until Monday.
And if you thought that sounds all right coming out of winter, how about the early prediction for Monday — a summer-like top of 31°C.
If that forecast rings true it will be our first time in the 30s since March 18 when we sweltered through a 38.5°C day.
BOM climate services manager Karl Braganza said unusually warm days were likely for almost all areas over spring.
“Spring is forecast to be warmer than usual across the country,” he said.
Our overnight minimums will also be on the rise, ranging from 7°C through to 12°C.
