Lucan Street Mulwala residents continue to be unhappy about the state of the open drain alongside the town’s cemetery.
“It’s a disgrace,” Mulwala identity Ron McKellar told the Yarrawonga Chronicle. “It needs definite work. Something’s got to be done.

“If we get another big rain, the water goes all over the place. Last time it came up to our front door and the SES was out at homes in the street sandbagging.”
Lucan Street is not the widest of roads and the deep open drain can pose a risk to motorists. The concern was raised at a public meeting of the former Corowa Shire Council about eight years ago.
“We had former Councillor Bronwyn Thomas out here and she organised some clearing work by council and Daryl Davey (another former councillor) paddles through the water in our backyard but we want some substantial work done,” Mr McKellar said.
