Yarrawonga/Mulwala swimmer Emily Judd claimed a Gold Medal in the Girls 9yrs 50m Freestyle at the 2021 Victorian All Junior Country Championships that were held at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre on March 13 and 14.

Emily swam a personal best (PB) time of 37.76 sec in the final. She also took a total of 2.64sec off her freestyle time over two swims.
Emily was one of 26 competitors representing the Yarrawonga/Mulwala Swimming Club at the semi-finals on Saturday, March 13 with this the largest number of swimmers the club has had competing at this event.
To be able to compete at this event swimmers had to have finished in the top 8 in the Ovens and Murray District for their age and event.
Those swimmers who competed on the Saturday were: Finn Angwin, Lara Angwin, Charlie Bourke, Bella Bridgeman, Ollie Bridgeman, Chelsea Carroll, Darcy Cox, Lachlan Cruikshank, Eva Cummins, James Cummins, Byron Dodd, Freya Fletcher, Wally Hammon, Annabel Hart, Chloe Hart, Emily Judd, Chelsea Kerr, Maddison Kerr, Jesse McDonald, Hugh Mullins, Fraser Nagle, Isobel Nagel, Nevaeh Rosmulder, Nancy Thomas, Ruby Thomas and Max Vodusek.
The above swimmers competed in a total of 70 semi-final swims, 24 finals swims and there were 6 emergency swims.
The swimmers achieved a total 95 personal best times with personal best times being recorded in 37 swims. Eleven of the swimmers were competing in this competition for the first time.
The largest personal best time was achieved by Lachlan Cruikshank in his 50m backstroke where he took a staggering 10.02 seconds off his previous time and made the final.
Eleven swimmers progressed to the finals on Sunday, March 14. This was the largest number of swimmers from the Yarrawonga/Mulwala Swimming Club to ever qualify for the finals.
Swimmers that progressed to the finals were: Charlie Bourke in the breaststroke, Bella Bridgeman in breaststroke, Lachlan Cruikshank in the backstroke, freestyle and an emergency in the breaststroke, Wally Hammon in the backstroke and breaststroke, Chloe Hart in the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and an emergency in the freestyle, Emily Judd in backstroke and freestyle, Chelsea Kerr in the butterfly and backstroke, Hugh Mullins in the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, Fraser Nagle in the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, Nancy Thomas in the backstroke and freestyle, and Max Vodusek in the freestyle and an emergency in the backstroke.
The following swimmers were: an emergency swimmer for the final Freya Fletcher in the backstroke, Jesse McDonald in the breaststroke, Isobel Nagel in the butterfly and Nevaeh Rosmulder in the backstroke.
Congratulations also to Chelsea Kerr for placing 3rd in the 12yr 50m Butterfly and Hugh Mullins placing 3rd in the 16yr 50m Freestyle.
Head Coach Lyndon Hart stated that “I am extremely proud of the performance of all swimmers. The weather over the meet was a typical Melbourne 4 seasons and the swimmers adapted to this and produced exceptional times.
“All of the swimmers have done themselves, their parents and the club proud with their achievements and I look forward to their continued development.”
