Thankfully mother nature brought great weather to Mathoura, with the locals and visitors coming out to support the event.
On offer for the kids were events such as Easter egg hunts, egg and spoon and sack races, bike decorating competition and various kids’ activities.
We saw the return of the cake stall, Mathoura Football Netball Club’s Duck Race tickets being sold, various market stalls and the annual Tug-O-War.
The women’s Tug-O-War was won by the Murray Bank Girls, against the Rivers Nats.
The open saw last year’s winners, the Tugboats, take out first place for the second year in a row.
Second place was the Murray Bank Maulers and in third was the Mud Marlins, who each put up a good fight but just weren’t able to knock last year’s winners off the perch.
With the Mathoura Events Committee having a changing of the guard in January this year, its members would like to thank all the volunteers, sponsors and vendors who helped with getting the event off the ground in such a short time frame and make it a successful day.

A thousand plus cute little yellow ducks took to the water on Sunday for the annual Duck Race.
Ticket holders lined the bank of the Murray River to cheer them on their way then wait for the race marshals to scoop up those first to cross the line and bring them back to the lucky ticket holders.
The successful ‘punters ‘ were: Pip Frazer, 1, $700; Nellie Ward, 2, $400; Red Turner, 3, $200; Alisha Toose, last, $100.
Monday will be a big day for the nuns of Mathoura’s Jesus, Mary and Joseph Carmelite Monastery.
It will mark five years since the original four nuns arrived to take up residence.
The nuns are inviting everyone to join in the celebrations, which will include the veiling of Sr Gabriela of Immaculate Heart of Mary, ocd during a Pontifical Mass, officiated by Most Reverend Bishop Columba Macbeth-Green of Wilcanna Forbes.
People can then stay on for a paella lunch, with meat and vegetable options available.

Mathoura’s Bra Fence group has recently made an early announcement regarding its annual fundraiser to support its cause.
Please mark May 25 on your calendar to give your support.
This group does an outstanding job supporting people with cancer by providing them with fuel cards to lessen the costs of frequent travel for treatment.
That takes a huge weight off those unfortunate enough to suffer from the disease.
