‘False alarm’ prompts warning

Firefighters are again reminding landholders of the need to register their planned burns after being called to a ‘false alarm’ at the weekend.

The Rural Fire Service was called to respond to a fire in the Blighty region.

On arrival, they found it was a controlled pile burn.

All burns must be registered via the ‘Notify Us’ portal, and to all neighbours 24 hours before lighting any fires.

The online portal can be found at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify.

Other rules and regulations relating to burns are available online or by contacting the Mid Murray Zone office on 5898 4100 or by going to www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/BFDP.
