Husband and wife doctor team Dr Ye Lin Ko and Dr Yin Yin Htwe have made the hard decision to return to Melbourne due to family reasons and will be finishing up with the practice on July 16.
Dr Ye Lin Ko followed his sister Dr Thandar San to Yarrawonga starting at Denis Medical Clinic in 2016 with special interest in chronic disease management, men’s health, geriatrics and skin cancer medicine.
Dr Yin Yin Htwe then followed her husband, joining the YDMG team in 2017 enjoying all areas of general practice medicine.
Both Dr Ko and Dr Htwe said they have enjoyed their time in Yarrawonga and will miss the town and its people greatly.
“It was a very difficult decision to make because we both really enjoy working in Yarrawonga and I have friends and family in Yarrawonga,” Dr Ko said.
“This clinic is where we completed our fellowship and where we have gained very good clinical experiences.
“I knew this day would sadly come and we could not stay in Yarrawonga forever.
“We like it here in Yarrawonga, we have many great memories here and everyone at Denis Medical and the town have been very supportive,” Dr Htwe added.
“When we came here, we liked the town and it has been fantastic.”
The feeling is reciprocated amongst the YDMG team with Dr Murali Ooruthiran saying “At times when rural communities have struggled to get doctors, Ye Lin and Yin Yin have been a fantastic addition to the team.
“They have also been fantastic for the town and it will be sad to see them go.”
YDMG Business/ Practice Manager Verona Poll summed up the sentiment perfectly on behalf of the whole practice.
“Both Dr Ko and Dr Htwe have had a great rapport and trust with their patients,” Ms Poll said.
“After years of serving our wonderful community, they had to make the difficult decision to return to Melbourne for family reasons.
“We wish them all the very best for their new journey and thank them both for their time at YDMG.”
