With $10,000 total prizemoney and 18 state or ex state lawn bowlers, this weekend’s 2024 Joy Johnson Ladies Triples tournament at Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort will have stacks of talent.
“There will be 26 teams for a total of 78 players – the same as last year. There will be 18 state or ex state players so the standard will be very high,” organiser Anne Miles told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
“They’ll have to fight for their money!”
The Bowls Australia ranking 3 event attracts women, mainly throughout the whole of Victoria.
The tournament is named after YMGCR ten-time club champion Joy Johnson. “Joy will be remembered for a very long time, not only for her bowling achievements but for her straight-forward attitude to life,” Anne said.
“Her dream was to see more high profile tournaments for women in bowls. It is an honour to run this event to pursue her dreams.”
The major sponsor again is Lekeal Builders, with Cropsmart also lending good support.
