His expertise is in solving cold cases which had baffled police for many years.
This week’s episode involved three members of a family who were involved in the drug trade and had been missing, presumed dead.
Ron got to a stage where he decided he needed assistance, and who did he choose for the role?
None other than Mathoura-ite Det Sgt Brendon Murphy – son of Joe and Elaine.
Between them they not only solved the crime, but recovered the bodies of the victims.

While on the subject of locals or former locals in the limelight, many people will remember Bess Logan and her daughter Julie Burrill.
Well, Julie’s daughter, Petrina, is a keen gardener and has featured in ABC Gardening Australia.
An article on her garden was published in its magazine this month, and a YouTube video featuring her garden was also produced by Gardening Australia last year.
If anyone would like to see Petrina and her extensive garden, you can do it by googling Petrina Burrill gardening.
It’s well worth the effort!

I would like to offer my sincerest apologies to the family of the late George Crack.
In my last column I incorrectly referred to him as Bob Crack – his brother who had predeceased him many years ago.
I hope his family will accept my apology.

This month is a special one for some people because it has 29 days instead of the normal 28.
Consequently people who were born on February 29 only get to officially celebrate every three years - a long time between drinks you might say .
However, on the brighter side romantics had a day of their own on Wednesday, with February 14 known as Valentine’s Day.

Students and staff at Mathoura Public School have settled into term one of 2024.
The Kinder children have their ‘buddies’ and all students are sporting new rugby jumpers thanks to a number of generous donations.
The main item of interest today will be the swimming carnival, with action getting underway at 10am.
The other thing back in action at the school is the TheirCare child minding centre which offers before and after school care.
This is an excellent facility for a school our size. People who would like to use it should contact Michelle on 0417 151 588.
