Although still early in his career, Madden has already demonstrated amazing determination, resilience and staying power.
Madden was surprised by the nomination and is looking forward to the gala night on April 28.
“This nomination came completely out of the blue. I was incredibly surprised but very honoured to be nominated,” Madden said.
At just 12 years of age, Madden created and managed his own business, ‘BundaBins’ before expanding out and founding ‘Bundalong Car & Boat Wash’.
When Madden moved to Yarrawonga from Melbourne in grade five, he looked for something to do. He saw that people would forget to put out their bins and/or bring them back in, as well as older people having to walk their bins up and down long country driveways, in addition to forgetting which day is which bin.
He saw an opportunity, planned and started up his own business, helping the community, networking and making money in the process.
“I didn’t really want to get involved in the ‘rubbish services,’ rather, I was determined I wanted to work from a young age,” Madden said.
“I saw an opportunity to not only help people within my community, keep our town and environment cleaner and healthier, but also to proudly create my very own small business.
“For three years I enjoyed ‘BundaBins’, however I decided I wanted to move on and create something different.”
His second innovative idea came from recognising that in his water-skiing hot spot town there was no boat or car washing service.
He understood very early on that the connections he was making were appreciative of his entrepreneurship, that hard work, reliability and honesty still means something in this world and how valuable an extensive network of professional people can be to future career prospects.
Lending his scooter to clients as a courtesy vehicle too was quite the innovative idea
“Being determined, and despite being told it would be too difficult, I recognised another opportunity and began “Bundalong Car and Boat Wash,” Madden said.
“This was hugely successful, and I am very proud of what I achieved.
“Through my businesses I have been fortunate to have connected with so many professional people within the community, in turn they have provided me mentorship and opened doors in my career path of Property Development.”
Now Madden is working at Oliver Hume, one of Australia’s most reputable residential property funds and real estate services groups who manage Silverwoods and Zest Living in Yarrawonga as ….
Madden sees his Property Development career as long term and is determined to succeed in an industry that is booming and continually evolving to ensure its sustainability in a changing landscape. Madden is also conscious of and continues to strengthen his understanding, thanks in part to the mentorship of industry leaders he has come to know in property, what it means to remain humble, grounded and maintain a level of "give-back to the community."
“Working at Oliver Hume is the highlight of my career so far. One of Oliver Hume’s projects in the Yarrawonga / Mulwala region is Zest, an over 55’s lifestyle community,” Madden said.
“I plan on continuing my career with Oliver Hume and hope to manage an estate of my own in the near future.
“I very much look forward to further assisting our community with their home purchase, whether that be a first home buyer or residents purchasing their forever home.”
Nominations for the Young Achiever Award ends on December 16 with judging to take place on March 1, 2023 and the awards gala presentation to be held at in Melbourne on April 28 next year.
