Previous owners and well-known and respected Yarrawonga GP Dr Clyde Ronan and his wife and practice nurse Lyndy have transitioned the ownership to Dr Ayon Guha and his wife and doctor Wen Guha.
Dr Ayon and Dr Wen come to Yarrawonga Medical from Redgum Medical Group in Corowa that they opened in 2021 with a wealth of experience in varying fields of general practice, emergency medicine and anaesthetics.
Dr Ronan, who has been in practice for 40 years and was awarded the Outstanding Rural GP award along with a Length of Service award for 35 years at the Rural Doctors Conference in 2019, will continue three days a week as he has been doing for some time, while wife and practice nurse Lyndy is going to spend more time with family but will continue to provide her expertise.
“I’ll continue to be a presence around the clinic and stay seeing my patients, they can’t get rid of me that easy,” Dr Ronan said.
“We will continue to be a part of the Yarrawonga Medical Clinic community but we will just no longer have practice ownership.
“This has been in the process for a while as we put in place a new practice manager at the beginning of the year which has gone smoothly, and we are very pleased to now have Dr Ayon and Dr Wen on board.
“Part of the transition has been to keep providing the same services and care to our patients that they have come to know while some changes have also been implemented.”
New owner Dr Ayon Guha was an engineer working in the mining industry who then decided to study medicine at The University of Western Australia. After working in WA hospitals for a few years, Dr. Ayon undertook his General Practitioner training in rural Australia attaining fellowship of The Royal College of GPs.
Dr Wen Guha studied medicine in China and after working in major public hospitals in WA decided to train in regional Australia attaining fellowship of The Royal College of GPs and advanced skills in anaesthetics.
“We originally moved from the city to the regions as big cities are very impersonal, so it was great for us to move to a smaller community where everyone is so welcoming and continuously smiling as they go about their day,” Dr Ayon said.
“We want to continue the tradition and level of care that the Yarrawonga Medical Centre has always had as we want the clinic to continue for another 40 years.
“We will continue the services that the practice already has in place such as the skin clinic as I have experience in this from my previous work, but we also have plans to grow and provide new services.
“Yarrawonga is a growing town with shifting demographics, so we want to be able to provide the necessary services for all residents and visitors.
“The objective of general practitioners is to provide care from birth to death which we plan to continue for all of the community.
“We will also introduce future proof medicine and technology which will see us continue to advance in the future.
“We really appreciate that Clyde is continuing on as he has a wealth of knowledge both as a general practitioner and as a practice manager, being in the role for 40 years.
“We need that experience and expertise and this is going to help us and the community immensely.”
With a change of ownership of any business or organisation, effects can change however Dr Ayon and Dr Ronan assure patients that the clinic will continue to provide care and advance into the future.
“Our aim together is that the practice can continue the same, similar and better services into the future for our patients in this community,” Dr Ronan concluded.
