The ‘NO FLIES ON US!’ representatives and the Cobram and District Fruit Growers Association joined with other businesses in promoting local produce at The Murray Food and Drink Showcase conducted at The Sebel, Yarrawonga recently.
The event, held on August 10, was opened by Moira Shire Chair Administrator PSM Dr Graeme Emonson, and attendees enjoyed live music, demonstration sessions, and canapes throughout the day.
AC Foods, Legacy Packing, RJ Cornish, Mattina Fresh and Orsida Fresh provided an array of premium fresh fruit for attendees to taste, highlighting the exceptional quality of their fruit and their support for the ‘NO FLIES ON US!’ program.
Fruit fly show bags, information packs, seasonal calendars and management posters explaining how individuals can manage fruit fly to protect their home-grown fruit and veg were distributed, along with samples of apples, mandarins, pears and lemons.
Local attendees proudly associated themselves with the local growers, while tourists visiting, the area for a weekend gourmet’s delight remarked they had never before tasted fruit so delicious and full of flavour.
