Pupils from Yarrawonga’s two primary schools were joined by Yarrawonga police senior-constables Dave Griffiths and Nick Rae on Friday, May 10.
The officers met with Yarrawonga P-12 and Sacred Heart Primary students for National Walk To School Day.
Handing out stickers with safety messages, the senior-constables provided the students information about walking to school safely.
Man arrested over Mulwala burglaries
A Yarrawonga man, 52, has been arrested on drug charges and will be extradited to NSW where he is wanted for burglaries committed in Mulwala over recent weeks.
The man was arrested after being spotted riding a bike on Friday, May 10 about 8pm.
Police searched the man and found a zip-lock bag containing methamphetamines.
He was taken to Yarrawonga Police Station and then later transported to Wodonga Police Station, where NSW Police lodged an application for extradition.
He was also charged with drug possession in Victora and will face court at a later date in relation to that matter.
Drug-driver tests positive
On Thursday, May 9, police intercepted a Yarrawonga man, 29, driving about 10pm and the man returned a positive drug test.
His vehicle was searched and some amphetamines were found.
The man was interviewed for possessing a drug of dependence and was served an immediate driving ban.
He will be summonsed to appear at court at a later date for drug possession and drug-driving.
Melbourne man blows mid-range
On May 11, around 11pm, a Melbourne man, 25, was intercepted on Telford Street, Yarrawonga returned a positive blood-alcohol test, recording a mid-range 0.110 back at the police station.
The man, from the suburb of Delahey, was issued an infringement notice for driving in excess of the 0.05 alcohol concentration, served an immediate driving ban and will have his licence cancelled for 11 months.
