Rev. Val Elson has come out of retirement to again take over the reigns at St Andrew’s By The Lake Church Mulwala, but only to the end of September at this stage.
Based at Berrigan, she replaces Fr Geoff Humble who officially retires at the end of this month. Fr Geoff was a passenger in an horrific car crash at Rennie on April 21 this year and suffered serious injuries which has proved a slow recovery in and out of hospitals.
Fr Geoff moved to Mulwala from Mortlake in February 2020.
St Andrew’s By The Lake warden Glenda Brooker welcomed back Rev. Val. “Reverend Val was well received at Mulwala,” she said.
“She is very caring and just so well liked by our congregation.”
Fr Geoff has to take life easier these days and can get back to his impressive rose garden. It has been a battle for the 74-year-old as his wife Ros passed away with cancer in 2010.
