Minor flooding occurred around the Yarrawonga Holiday Park and Yarrawonga Lawn Tennis Club on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Yarrawonga Mulwala Canoe Club and the Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort’s Murray course unfortunately succumbed to the rising water causing minor damage.
With Yarrawonga and district smashing its October and November rainfall records and more water coming down the river system, the north gate at the Yarrawonga Weir remains temporarily opened, further flooding river bends and inundating some of the Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort’s golf holes.
The river below the weir peaked at 7.79 metres last week.
River levels have dropped slightly this week, but Yarrawonga Mulwala Canoe Club members have still left their clubrooms cleared out in anticipation of the river rising again over the coming weeks.
“Our shed was the first to go under again and will again if the river rises,” canoe club member Tim Roadley said.
“Unfortunately, our roller doors and the front structure of the shed have been severely damaged this time and will now need to be replaced.
“We are hoping for assistance in repairing these once the flood waters are no longer a threat.
“We had cleared everything off the floor up to the 1993 flood level, so there has been no damage to equipment etc.”
In Bundalong, residents have been keeping an eye on the Ovens River as flows have already peaked and continue to drop. At its peak last week, the river level was lapping at some back yards with some minor flooding of several properties.
