With further rainfall predicted later this week as well as dam releases and tributary inflows, the Murray River at Yarrawonga is set to hit its highest peak since 1993.
The Murray River at Yarrawonga downstream may peak around 7.8 metres this Thursday with major flooding which will see parts of the Yarrawonga Holiday Park, the tennis courts and the Yarrawonga Mulwala Canoe Club under water as well as more areas of the Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort course affected.
The predicted 7.8metres exceeds the 2016 river level of 7.76m and is just short of the 1993 peak of 7.88m.
Although also breaking a record with the wettest October on record only last month, Yarrawonga has smashed the rain records again with the wettest monthly total.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, already for November 2022 Yarrawonga has recorded 91.2mm, breaking the 2010 record of 86.6mm with further showers forecast this weekend.
The Murray River at Corowa was forecast to reach 8.2 metres on Tuesday before the Chronicle went to print with moderate flooding.
Forecasts will be progressively refined once upstream flood peaks along the Murray River and its tributaries are observed.
