The Rotary Club of Yarrawonga Mulwala was approached by the Cemetery Trust to complete the bollard fence with the Rotary Club supplying eighteen bollards and chain with a number of members carrying out the works.
The Rotary Club of Yarrawonga Mulwala Community Director Ron Kennett said that members have really enjoyed doing the fence including a couple of ex – farmers with fencing expertise to guide the project.
“Even with the Covid restrictions over the past two years, the Rotary Club of Yarrawonga Mulwala has continued to support projects within the town,” Mr Kennett said.
“The installation of a hot water service at the Yarrawonga College P-12 Community Workshop was also recently completed along with the refurbishment of the Rotary Rotunda at the new Purtle Park Adventure Playground in Mulwala.
“A new water station servicing both walkers and dogs is currently being installed near the Chinaman’s Island rotunda.”
Yarrawonga Cemetery Trust President Jan Parker said the Cemetery Trust was grateful for Rotary’s help and the fencing has now revitalised the area.
“We (the cemetery trust) are very appreciative of Rotary for their assistance to purchase and erect the fence,” Ms Parker said.
“This has defined the no parking area as we still had people parking where they shouldn’t and ruining water systems.
“It has also lifted the area which is great.”
Rotary Club of Yarrawonga Mulwala President Joe Cilia said Rotary were pleased to be able to come back together to give back to the community.
“This is one of the projects we wanted to do for the community. Our main objective is to assist and give back to the community,” Mr Cilia said.
“Now after the lockdowns we are really focusing on the community and what we can do to assist.
“We are also very happy that we can now host our monthly community market again and complete more projects.”
