“It has been an honour to serve the community over the last two years and nine months, as it was a shorter term it feels like I am just getting started, and I would love to continue this role if elected again,” Ms Black said.
Running independently again, Ms Black continues on the platform that the community needs economic sustainable local government to continue to move forward.
“The councillors and staff have been committed to seeing a full report come together into Federation’s sustainability by Professor Drew and the University of Newcastle,” she said.
“It revealed many facts that showed the importance of ensuring an adequate rating structure be in place, that we are realistic about what our services cost, to ensure we are empowering and enabling our many communities of people and groups to thrive and bring life to our towns and much more.
“If Federation Council is to continue to provide adequate services in the future, then a Special rate variation - SRV is of absolute importance.
“We all know that Federation LGA is a fantastic place to live, work and visit. With the mighty Murray River and prime agricultural land, we are blessed with so much beauty and potential around us, we need our communities to be able to showcase this to everyone.
“We will continue to seek decisions that reduce the burden on those that are challenged by cost of living pressures, but know that to continue to have our roads maintained or renewed as well as services and infrastructure upgrades, we need to plan for the future and not ignore the issues before us.
“I want to see our LGA to continue to prosper and to also transform into an exciting area to live and visit.
“As an independent candidate, I urge everyone to vote below the line. Vote for 5 people that you think have the ability to lead your communities well.
“Smart people, people who listen and care about every person whether they are living in a town, village or rural property. We are Federation and we need to see our communities prosper and succeed.”
