In 2022 Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort, ClubMulwala and Mulwala Water Ski Club applied for and were successful in obtaining funding through ClubGrants, one of Australia’s largest and most established grant programs in a partnership between ClubsNSW and the NSW Government.
Between them, the clubs donated $11,000 to the pre-school who were in need of a new sandpit area, which has been designed with a cement shell, as well as steps for easy access for children of all ages who attend the centre.
As the early education centre is government funded, however the maintenance is not, Mulwala Pre-school Committee member Jess Dowling contacted ClubGrants who advised her that the local licensed venues may be of assistance.
“We are a not-for-profit, community pre-school with 40 children a year so we want to be able to provide them with the best equipment available,” Ms Dowling said.
“I saw this ClubGrants funding that was best if a local enterprise applied for it and the three clubs all jumped on board as soon as we asked for their help.
“We can’t do anything without grants and funding so we greatly thank the three clubs for their assistance.
“It is great to have a space where the children can play with leaves and make potions, just enjoying the outdoors,” Mulwala Pre-School Director Liz Jessup added.
“They love this area and we thank the clubs immensely for helping us to provide it.”
Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club resort CEO Peter Savy said that YMGCR, like the additional two clubs, are focused on supporting local communities and this funding is a way to be able to assist the community.
“The category one grants, that each of the clubs applied for is essentially a ”feel good“ donation and we couldn’t think of a better organisation to give the money to,” Mr Savy said.
“What is better than seeing the smiles on the young kids faces as they play in their new sandpit.”
ClubMulwala Marketing Communications and Entertainment Co-ordinator Trish Storer and Mulwala Water Ski Club CEO Peter Duncan agreed with Mr Savy’s sentiments.
“We are happy to help with anything that is of benefit to children and the community,” Ms Storer said.
“The maintenance of the sandpit adds to the beautiful landscape here. It is a great space for children to play and learn.
“This is all for the kids and the people who run the pre-school. They do a great job for the kids and the community,” Mr Duncan added.
