This special event brought together excited students and their beloved grandparents for a day filled with joy, learning and connection.
In a wonderful display of family love and support, 100% of students had a grandparent visit the school, making the event not just well-attended but also a heartwarming occasion for the entire community. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as students proudly showed their grandparents around the school.
The day was packed with engaging activities designed to encourage interaction and creativity.
Visitors participated in trivia games that tested their knowledge, directed drawing sessions where they showcased their artistic talents, and sporting activities.
One of the highlights of the day was the creation of sundials, where grandparents and students collaborated in a fun and hands-on manner.
After a morning filled with activities, everyone enjoyed a delightful lunch together.
This communal dining experience fostered a sense of togetherness and allowed families to bond even further.
Following lunch, everyone gathered for a special assembly to honour the grandparents. The assembly featured a performance from the school's Auslan signing choir.
School Principal, Gayle Pinn, commented on the significance of the day, saying: “Grandparents Day is a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with their family members and learn the importance of family traditions.
“We are grateful to have such a supportive community, and it’s heartening to see so many grandparents actively involved in their grandchildren’s education.”
As the day came to a close, it was clear that Grandparents Day had once again created lasting memories for both students and their grandparents. The smiles, laughter, and stories shared will resonate within the school community for years to come.
“At Mulwala Public School, Grandparents Day is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of love, learning, and the special bonds that enrich our lives,” Ms Pinn added.
“Here’s to many more years of celebrating the cherished role of grandparents!”
