The two-night in-house concert held on January 27 and 28, is aimed to help support the community following three years of ongoing challenges including fires, the Covid-19 pandemic and more recently, the widespread floods, with ticket sales to go back to the community.
Braithwaite and Eskimo Joe, both long standing popular performers, will headline on separate days, with the ever-popular Eskimo Joe taking the stage on Friday, January 27 supported by local artists, Cherry Chain and Sam + Sam.
Meanwhile, tickets have sold out for Daryl Braithwaite on Saturday who is being supported by 3DaysReign and Andrew Wishart.
The club’s flood relief concert was announced late November after Corowa received a month of record rainfall and water inundation which saw the Murray River peak locally at 8.10 metres on November 15.
Floodwater caused damage to many low lying buildings along the river and took almost two weeks to recede.
The John Foord Oval/ Roos clubrooms and the Corowa Golf Club’s course suffered significant damage with the Guide Hall, Apex Shed and railway track, Federation Council Chamber and Civic Centre and the Wahgunyah Speedway track all suffering moderate damage.
“It’s been a difficult end to 2022 for many people in the community,” Corowa RSL CEO Peter Norris said.
“We understand there’s an incredibly tough road ahead for those in our region and beyond recently impacted by the devastating floods. People have been affected in a variety of ways.
“Although a concert does not diminish the effort required to get individuals, community groups and businesses back to a semblance of how things were pre floods, it is our hope that the Uniting Our Communities Flood Relief Concert Weekend will bring a positive vibe to the community as we all support those who need it moving into the coming months and years.
“This is also a fantastic opportunity to get some local bands performing. Sam + Sam is incredibly talented performing and recording artists who originate from the Murray region. On top of this, 3DaysReign is another one of our brilliant town favourites, known for delivering huge performances of rock anthems and party hit.”
