Studio trail success

The first ever Campaspe Artists Studio Trail was a huge success, drawing art lovers from over 90 different postcodes.

The trail saw 27 artists from 10 towns across Campaspe Shire open up their studios to curious guests on Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23.

Event organiser Dey Alexander said it was a unique chance for guests to interact with art in the artists' creative environment.

“What made this event unique was the studio experience on offer,” she said.

“Visitors were able to engage directly with the artists, get a look inside their studios, watch demonstrations and ask questions about the materials, methods and motivations behind the work of each artist and it seems everyone loved it.”

Ms Alexander said the initiative received many positive comments from visitors about their experience praising the local artists and their work.

Some artists welcomed visitors into their personal studios while others gathered in local art spaces to run demonstrations to share their artistic processes.

Artists working out of the Kyabram Town Hall attracted over 200 visitors while Tongala artists recorded around 149 people at the Lions Street Art exhibition.

Over 120 people also made their way to the Foundry Arts Space in Echuca and the Rushworth ART Depot throughout the weekend.

After a successful first event, the next Campaspe Artists Studio Trail is already in the works and is set to be held from Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 3 next year.
