Troy Grant secured his first Deniliquin Golf Club Championship after the completion of the third and final round on Saturday.

Grant had rounds of 77-72-82 to score by five shots from Chris Thomson.
The pair had a close battle and were level pegging with two holes to go, with Grant getting the upper hand after leading throughout the championships.
The B-grade winner was George Willis with a final round of 84 to give him a three shot margin over John Penna.
C-grade winner was Keanu Sutton, following on from this decisive 2022 D-grade championship victory.
This year’s D-grade winner was Mick Lyne, and the Junior Champion was Oscar Marshall.
The ladies completed their championships on Thursday, when Vicki Brunker continued her domination of this event to record her fifth consecutive title.
She had tough competition this year, winning by only two shots from Jenny Swainger.
Ladies B and C grades were also close. In B-grade Carol Hardman won by a shot to Margie Radeski, and in C-grade Bev Purtill finished two shots ahead of Coral Maher.
The ladies also had a stroke event on Thursday, won in A-grade by Ginnie Lange with net 76 on countback to runner-up Lyne O’Brien, and in B-grade the winner was Annette Danckert net 76 from runner-up Sue Hancock 77.
On Saturday the men’s monthly medal, sponsored by Brown’s Rural Supplies, was held in conjunction with the final round of championships and won by Oscar Marshall with a net 68.
A-grade winner was Tom Bult net 70 from runner-up Hugh Sutton 72; B-grade Ben Littman 74 on countback to Keanu Sutton; and C-grade Oscar Marshall 68 from runner-up Prue Grant 74.
On Monday Deniliquin hosted the Goulburn Valley Veteran Golfers Association, with 78 players participating. Best performed of the local golfers was Barry Barlow who won A-grade with 36 points.
Visitors spoke highly of the golf course, with the event’s official report stating: “Congratulations are extended to the Deniliquin volunteers and staff for presenting the course in such wonderful condition after the difficulties following the floods.”
Due to the early edition of the Pastoral Times the results of Wednesday’s stableford event will be included in next week’s edition.
Coming up there is a single stableford event on Saturday, nine holes stableford on Tuesday, stableford on Wednesday and the ladies will contest the Rita Barnes Goblet next Thursday. Saturday, April 15 will be the Borella Cup.
The golf course will be open throughout Easter and the pro shop will open every day.
However, the clubhouse is closed on Good Friday and there will be no ‘Friday Night Fun’ and raffles this week. They will resume next Friday, April 14. Meals will not be available on either Friday or Saturday nights.
