Twin Rivers students get colourful for Splatacular

Echuca Twin Rivers Primary School students were treated to an afternoon of fun, slime and plenty of colour for the school’s Splatacular run.

The event was held on Thursday, November 21 and organised by the school’s student leadership and parents and friends committees.

The primary school students ran, walked and slid their way around the school’s oval to raise money for renovations.

In the lead-up to the event, students raised funds to complete a walking path and bike track around the oval that could be used for exercise and bike safety education.

The school raised over $8000 towards the project, which, while not enough to complete the track, will go a long way towards eventually finishing it.

One of the incentives for the students to raise money was the promise of seeing their favourite teachers slimed on the day.

SLC and PNF co-ordinator Anthea Mathers highlighted the students’ excitement about the event.

“We’ve had an excellent response and raised beyond what we thought we would, which is good,” she said.

“This whole event was driven by the students. It’s a day we’ve done in years past, a lot of the students wanted to do this again, so we thought it was a great opportunity to raise some funds.

“It’s been a great day out and a good outcome for the school. All the students have been very excited about it, they have all gotten involved and dressed up, which adds a bit of atmosphere to it.”
