On Tuesday, Victoria will pass its first threshold on the Roadmap with 80 per cent of Victorians having received their first vaccine dose. Victoria’s Chief Health Officer has declared that from September 29 there will be a modest easing to restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, in line with the Roadmap.
In regional Victoria, outdoor settings for restaurants and cafes will have their outdoor venue cap increase from 20 to 30 people. Masks may be removed if the service requires it in hair and beauty salons, so facials and beard trimmings can recommence.
The next milestones in the Roadmap will be when school begins to return to onsite learning on 5 October and when Victoria hits that 70 per cent double dose vaccination target – in late October.
In regional NSW no further easing of restriction announcements have been made however NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian revealed the roadmap to fully reopening the state once NSW reaches 80 percent double dose vaccination.
Gathering, recreation and travel restrictions will be eased once the 80 percent target is met and based on spacing requirements, from December 1, masks won’t be required in some indoor settings.
Last week state leaders unveiled freedoms residents will be able to enjoy once the state achieves 70% double dose vaccination which is likely to occur within the next fortnight with freedoms substantially staggered for unvaccinated residents to re-engage with society.
From Tuesday over 60 percent of NSW residents had received their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The councils of Moira, Federation, Berrigan and Indigo are on track to reach vaccination targets earlier after initiating a friendly race earlier this month to see who can reach that 80 per cent double vaccination goal the quickest.
Yarrawonga Health, Yarrawonga Medical Clinic, Yarrawonga Denis Medical Group, Terry White Chemmart and Mulwala Pharmacy are all conducting COVID-19 vaccinations via appointment by ringing the clinics or pharmacies directly.
