Mulwala 43 defeated Congupna 39.
The Lions girls came out firing. With many new faces in the team, it was as though the girls had been playing for years together.
First quarter the Lions had the lead but knew they were in for a fight. The heat and pace seemed to have an impact throughout the second and third quarter, but the girls seemed to hold on with the scores being equal.
Leah played an excellent game in GS, her height and holds worked perfectly.
The mid courters worked tirelessly all game. In the defence end Lara and Alex had many intercepts and proved to be strong editions to the 2021 team.
The final quarter the Lions played smart and continued to have control over the game. Congratulations on the four goal win girls.

B Grade
Mulwala 36 drew with Congupna 36
It was great to be back on the court after a long 12 months off and was great to see all the girls out having fun again.
With some upcoming juniors of Chloe Burgess and Polly McRae, along with Hayley Bigger new to the club, it’s a very versatile team with seniors players of Steph Hammond, Cara Wood, Brit Hanley, Tea` Glass, Chelsea Kirchen and Tayla Thomas.
The girls got off to a great start going into half time with a 9-goal lead. The second half with a few changes to the team saw Congupna fight back drawing in on the Lions.
The girls stuck it out till the end in the heat with a draw 36-36.
Best players – Brit Hanley in defence, working tirelessly all game with a great last quarter, turning it over many times.
Chloe Burgess is one to watch, coming up from 17s to play her first year in senior netball. Chloe played a great game in the mid court in C, WA and WD.

C Grade
Mulwala 23 defeated by Congupna 35.
Despite the heat the girls put up a good fight, with the help of Kaleisha from under 15s. Everyone played great for the first week back with Congupna winning by 12.

C Res
Mulwala 18 defeated by Congupna 32
A hot day to start the season. Both teams started strong with a 1 goal advantage to Congupna at quarter time.
The second and third quarters were a tough contest and the heat and fitness started to play a factor.
Congupna ran away with the win in the final quarter with a final score of 18 to 32.

Under 17s
Mulwala 61 defeated Congupna 15.
On a hot day to start the season, the Under 17 girls were nervous and excited.
Mul came out strong and that continued right throughout the game with Piper and Paige in goals, supported by Maya, Brooke and Emmy.
The defence were incredible, turning over ball after ball by Freya, Jemma, Abbey and Emma. The final score saw a healthy first round win of 61 to 15.

No games for under 15s, 13s and 11s.
