Police will prepare a report for the coroner after the death of a child in Mooroopna.
A 10-year-old Cobram boy died of cardiac arrest at a Mooroopna property at about 3.50pm on Sunday, December 15.
Police said the boy was found in the boot of a sedan after taking car keys from inside the Mooroopna property.
He went exploring, got stuck in the car, and no-one realised he was there until it was too late, police said.
The boy and his mother had travelled from Cobram to visit friends in Mooroopna, police said.
Police said the incident was a case of misadventure and a tragic accident.
Ambulance Victoria paramedics attended the scene, as did Tatura SES, which provided a marquee on behalf of police for privacy.
Shepparton’s temperature on Sunday rose above 33℃ after 1pm and was 34.6℃ at 3.30pm.
