A Melbourne P-plater was caught drug-driving unlicensed on a main Goulburn Valley road.
Muhammad Mohd Affandi, 28, from the Melbourne suburb of Ringwood, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to drug-driving and unlicensed driving.
Prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Anna Hanlon said Affandi tested positive to methamphetamines when he was driving a white Toyota sedan unlicensed on the Goulburn Valley Hwy, Kialla West, on July 20.
His probationary licence was cancelled by the Department of Transport in April because he hadn’t completed a drug behaviour change program required to get it back.
Affandi’s defence solicitor, Bree Zito, said her client had abided by the six-month licence suspension he had been given, but wasn’t aware he had to complete the drug behaviour change program.
Miss Zito told the court Affandi had been clean from drugs for two weeks, was now staying away from bad associates, and “wanted to get his life back on track”.
He was fined $500 and disqualified from getting a licence for 12 months starting on December 2.
