Tungamah Bowls Club
Midweek B2s – December 10
Hold tight - we’re checking permissions before loading more content
Tungamah travelled to Albury to play at Commercial Club. These greens to those who are not familiar with locality of clubs, is on the roof of the Commercial Club itself.
Obviously synthetic and Tunga found it difficult. It should have been faster than it looked, wind came into play as well and Tunga didn’t adjust.
Needless to say, we were defeated 58 to 46 shots, got 2 points for one rink win and slip down to 3rd spot on the ladder.
Last game before Christmas and Tunga played Corowa Civic at Home.
Saturday B1s – December 14 An early start for Tungamah as Myrtleford had agreed to start at 11am at Tunga’s request.
A bus conveyed this team to ensure all players returned in time for the Community Christmas Party. Perhaps the thoughts were on the party and the bus trip as even though they won two rinks, Tunga went down to a formidable Myrtleford side 71 to 58 shots collecting 4 points they stay in fourth spot.
Now players rest until January 18 when Tunga face Moyhu at home, only four games after we return.
Saturday A3s – December 14
Home to Bright, this was a game Tunga really thought they would win but not to be.
Green was excellent and Bright loved it, defeating us 86 to 74 shots. Tunga got 2 points for one rink and fall out of the four so have a battle on our hands now with only four matches to go.
Happy safe Christmas to all bowlers and your families from Tungamah Bowls Club.
Community Christmas Party
Bowls were over for the day; results didn’t warrant a party but a party it was.
Locals, loyal supporters, bowlers and their families attended this community event. With so many functions on at this time of year the crowd was great, and the club appreciated your attendance.
Santa even called in on his loyal fire truck with lollies, to the joy of the many children who had been happily entertaining themselves.
Adults enjoyed live music in the form of local Yarrawonga artist, Les Brazil who certainly livened the place up with people dancing to 70s and 80s music.
Ham raffle generously donated by Nagles Butchery was won by Kirra Dickins of Yarrawonga.
Boxes of fruit were donated and those attending took advantage of this generosity, thank you.
Bar and free BBQ were active while the table of sweets and icy poles for the kids made everyone happy.
Thanks to those locals that took the time to decorate the clubhouse and surrounds, even the men’s dunny got a makeover.
Thanks to all involved in making the night the success it was.

Annual Christmas Party
The Christmas Party saw a great roll up of 80 plus people and also wonderful to see many of our barefoot bowlers in attendance and enjoying the evening.
As usual all the members contributed in providing a superb, very delicious huge variety of salads to complement the traditional Xmas ham and chicken.
This was then followed by an array of equally sumptuous treats in yummy sweets.
Thank you to Kim Silver who organised the night, but also to so many others who cheerfully volunteered and again “chipped in” to help in numerous ways ensuring our closing event for the year was so successful and enjoyable.
Next Tuesday will be our last pennant game for the year; followed by a holiday break over Christmas and the New Year until January 18 for weekend pennant and January 21 for midweek pennant.
From the club to all our members and their families:-
🎼 We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Weekend Pennant
Before last Saturday’s home match against Myrtleford, the A1s found themselves in the unenviable position of 8th place on the ladder, so the match had a distinct air of anticipation.
Happily, for YMGCR, after the 84th end it was a welcome, and much needed win for the A1s.
The final score; YMGCR 84 shots and 16 points to Myrtleford 74 shots and 2 points. Blazing the trail for the home side were, Chris Horne (L), Peter Lidgerwood (2), Anne Miles (3), and Ian Brimblecombe (S) who won 28 shots to Myrtleford 11 shots.

In a close tussle all afternoon and prevailing after the last bowl were Rhonda Irvine (L), Ray Brown (2), Greg Green (3), and Julian Jones (S), who won 16 shots to Myrtleford 14 shots.
Going into the Christmas break the A1s are now in 6th place, and after the break play host to Corowa RSL at the Golf Club.
The A3s played host to Benalla and the resounding win gave them an early Christmas present, and doing their chances of playing finals a shot in the arm.
The final scores; YMGCR 107 shots and 17 points to Benalla 57 shots and 1 point. Winning as they pleased were Barb Tennyson (L), Bill Jenkins (2), Cliff Morton (3), and Greg Fisher (S), who made short work of their opposition 22 shots to Benalla 8 shots. Putting their opponents well and truly to the sword were Dog McTier (L), Tony Durkin (2), Bob Evans (3), and Kerry Kinnane (S), who won 34 shots to Benalla 7 shots.
This almost clean sweep sees the A2s head to the Christmas break in 4th place. When pennant resumes, they travel to Bright.
The A5s took on Dederang, at Dederang, last Saturday, and in a competitive match went down to their hosts.
The final score saw Dederang 63 shots and 12 points to YMGCR 50 shots and 2 points. Ensuring that YMGCR didn’t board the bus empty handed were Marie Morffew (L), Jodi Powell (2), Ross Lloyd (3), and Ian Morffew (S), who won 21 shots to Dederang 19 shots. The A5s are now in 7th place and after Christmas, their first essay is an away match against Yackandandah.
Next week we’ll be brining you a wrap up of the Bowls Section Christmas party, and news from the O&M Regionals played at Myrtleford Bowling Club.
Until next week, good bowling.
