Sunday was the “Tungamah $1020 Classic” an annual event sponsored by O’Hallorans Roller Doors.
This Triples event was extremely well supported given that the Edinburgh Shield was also on.
Teams from Yarrawonga, Cohuna, St James, Wunghnu, Monbulk, Border Golf, Moira and Tungamah.
Three games of 12 ends, two games prior to an excellent two course hot lunch which was appreciated by all players before they played their final game. Rules for the tournament are: if more than one three game winner the two teams with most shots up play a four end play off.
There were three teams with three wins but only two got to play off.
Wunghnu, with Kingy, Doug and Ivan were the unfortunate team to come third. Cohuna won 5 to 4 against Monbulk in an excellent exhibition of bowls.
Day was forecast to be cold, and it was also very windy so not a great day for draw bowls. Congratulations to the members who prepared the green (which was running at 16 and in magnificent condition) set up, cooked and attended bar, prepared food, did the cards and all the other bits that needed doing.
Thanks Muz, for your sponsorship and all visiting teams have entered again for next year.
Coming events: Tomorrow – Thursday, April 10 is B Grade Championship Final between Joy and Journo. BBQ, social and members draw. This will be the last of the organised nights, but green is open as will be the bar.
Saturday 12- Presentation night at the Tungamah Hotel from 5.30pm. Plus the drawing of the major raffle $5000 plus gas Baby Q BBQ, chainsaw, esky, accommodation and voucher at Mulwala Water Ski Club, Bi Rite voucher, Tungamah Hotel voucher, slab of beer.
If you have a ticket join in for a meal and get to take your prize home with you.
All proceeds from this raffle has gone directly into the building fund, so thank you to everyone that has purchased a ticket.

State finals week
YBC send positive thoughts and well wishes to Ian Woods, Ros King, Claire and Garry Sanders who are all playing the State Finals this weeks. You should be proud of your efforts so far and the club hope you bowl well but enjoy the experience regardless of the results.
Good luck also to all O&M representatives.
Edinburgh Shield and Tattersalls
The club hosted the Edinburgh Shield on April 5 and 6.
There were approximately 118 bowlers both days and as is YBC tradition the catering staff, bar staff, match committee and all volunteers did an incredible job catering for a two-course lunch both days.
The players were very appreciative and a pleasure to host.
Thanks to the bbq kings and all who provided amazing salads and apple crumbles...they were delicious.
Also as is tradition there were some 70 odd bowlers from Tattersalls playing their annual event on Tuesday, April 8...again if anyone can contribute a salad it would be most welcome.
Presentation night is on this Friday, April 11. Happy hour as per normal is 5pm and presentations to commence approximately 5.30 with a meal of pizza, lasagne and salad to follow.
All members and guests welcome.
Monday 2/4/2

YMGCR Bowls
Wednesday Social Bowls
Continuing fine, albeit milder, and welcome weather saw a field of 36 bowlers turn out for Wednesday Social Bowls last week.
Additionally, it’s great to see friends from surrounding clubs enjoying the day and the free running greens.
This week some of the visiting bowlers included, Peter Verlardo, Mick Reilly, Phil Pettit, Peter Argan from Sorrento, Mick Szabo, Ray Lamb from Sorrento, Taffy Oughton and Paul Bianco.
First prize of $140 and a drink card, was won by the team of Neville Coleman and Roby Forge.
Second prize of $80 was shared by Ray Brown and Paul Bianco.
The losing rink consolation prize, of $40 was shared by Doug McTier and Noel Smith.
The first lucky number prize of $20 was won by Mick Reilly, and the second Lucky Number raffle prize of $10 went to Les Wilson.
Friday Social Bowls
The third week of the new season of Friday Social Bowls saw strong numbers enjoying the day.
It was great to see both greens almost full. Visitors from surrounding clubs and further afield are most welcome.
Visitors and single entries please include a contact telephone number when writing your names on the entry sheets, located on the bowls office noticeboards.
YMGCR end of Pennant function
YMGCR Bowls has reintroduced the end of Pennant function, which was held at the lagoon on Sunday, March 30.
There was a turnout in excess of 65 members and guests, which are really pleasing numbers, for the first of what we hope are many more functions of this type to come.
It was great to see a number of friends from Tuesday Barefoot Social Bowls at the function and having a great time.
The Bowls Section provided the BBQ meats and drinks and thanks to members who brought along salads and desserts.
Thanks go to those volunteers who made the day an unqualified success, they were Kerry Kinnane, who was determined to see an end of pennant function introduced. Kerry, Rob and Peter Lidgerwood helped with the set up.
Rob and Shirley Hummel were generous in their provision of a second BBQ for the day. Lynne and Terry Baxter, Ray Irvine and Vic Brincat also gave generously of their time to ensure that the day was a success.
Tuesday Autumn Barefoot Bowls
Many friends, and new bowlers, who participated in the Barefoot Charity Challenge Series, were keen to maintain the momentum and continue bowling on Tuesday evenings.
Last Tuesday saw strong numbers participating and having a great time.
The evening kicked off with fine weather however, when the sun went down there was a distinct autumn chill in the air.
The concept of two games with four bowlers per side, gave the bare footers a taste of what pennant bowls is all about.
It was also encouraging to see a number of YMGCR’s established bowlers joining in and getting to know the new players and give some advice on the finer points of the game.
In the next YMGCR Bowls Report another report will appear on the Autumn Barefoot Challenge.
Also a report on the Edinburgh Sheild Tournament.
Until next week, good bowling.
