High School Riverina Representative Bowls Tournament.
July 2 and 4.
The team consisted of eight players, and the Inter District teams played at Wariila Bowls Club Wollongong.
Temora (2), Junee (1), Tumbarumba (1), Griffith (1), Corowa (3).
Representing Corowa High were Levi Phibbs, Cohen Wilcox and Nate Jones.
Shak Murray from Griffith plays Pennant Bowls with Corowa Civic. She and her father Adrian travel each weekend throughout the Pennant Season.
The outright winner of the tournament was North Sydney, they only lost one game over the three-day tournament and that game was lost to Team Riverina by five shots!
Maree Jones quoted, "the boys are hanging their hat on that".
On day one and two, the Riverina team won three matches and lost two, they finished fourth in Pool B.
They then played the 3rd team in Pool A, losing by only 3 shots.
On the third and final day of play, Team Riverina won 34/13 to finish the Tournament in 7th position.
Levi and Nate have played Ovens and Murray Pennant at the RSL Bowls Club last season.
Cohen plays Wednesday School Bowls.
The boys also love to play cricket too!
The club wishes to acknowledge the support from Maree Jones, Andy Dickins and Dominic Carroll, who assist with "Bowls Coaching" each Wednesday.
Social Bowls – Wednesday, July 6.
Fifteen players this week and the winners 2W + 12 were Stuart McNeill, Sandy Stewart and Anne Summerill.
Runners Up on a countback 1W and 1L were Sam Nixon, Les Pilfoot and Rosemary Baddeley.
Members are reminded that "Brunch before Bowls", July 17 at 11am.
Everyone is welcome even if you don't intend playing bowls at 1pm.
Open Jackpot – Saturday, July 6.
No winners, and 22 players, the Jackpot stands at $66 plus next week's green fee allocation.
Thanks to the volunteers, both the Nixon green and Leo Farrell greens are back in play.
Corowa Indoor Carpet Bowls
The winners on Sunday on 16 and 15 (31) were Ian Day, Betty Clancy, and Angela Clapton.
With the runners-up on 5 and 17 (22) being Joan Adams, Merylyn Milthorpe, and Helen Bartel.
Tuesday’s winners on 15 and 17 (32) were Peter Manning, Ian Day, and Joan Fletcher. With the runners-up on 16 and 15 (31) being Margaret Watson, Betty Clancy, and Helen Bartel.
And on Thursday afternoon social, the winners on 16 and 18 (34) were the team of Ian Day, Anne Smith, and Gloria McCluskey.
With the runners-up on 5 and 18 (23) being Betty Clancy, Doreen Pleming, Ellen Buckley, and Gwen Mills.
Corowa Civic Bowls Club
A great day for social bowls on Wednesday – sunny and fine and not a cloud in the sky, a good turnout of 26 players to take advantage of the lovely weather.
Winners – Frank Hicks, Brendan Leach and Brian Hone.
Runners-up – Michelle Shields and Brian McCarthy.
Saturday was another sunny day with more players taking to the greens, there were 32 players including visitors – Jeanie, Karen, Mike, Ann and Barry.
Winners – Lynton Ford, Ned Young and Estelle Hollingsworth.
Runners-up – Lance Davis, Brendan Leach and Karen Davis.
3rd – Pam Tobias and Barry Downs.
If you are wishing to play pennant this season, please add your name to the lists for both Midweek and Weekend as we must advise O&M how many teams will be participating. Weekend Pennant is set down to commence on October 12.

Come along Thursday afternoons from 3.30pm there are drills on the greens to help us with our game.
