Yarrawonga Bowls
Results of Social Bowls last week were:-
Monday competition - Winners – S Maddox and G Maddox.
Runners Up – M Dixon and S Day.
Wednesday 3 Bowls Triples:-
Winners – L Spencer, K Tait and D Charrington.
Runners Up - J Borg, S Maddox, M Szarbo.
A very enjoyable night was held on Sunday at the Chinese Restaurant at the Ski Club to support one of the major sponsors the “Mulwala Water Ski Club”.
Thank you to everyone who attended to help make a successful night.
YMGCR Bowls
Wednesday Social Bowls
32 players were front and centre for social bowls last Wednesday.
Eight rinks across both greens were used for the afternoon’s play, and both greens ran well. Play was in the east west orientation.
The day’s winners were the team of Shan and Mike Klodinski. The winners’ runners up prize went to the combination of Rob Hummel and a visitor, Peter Connolly.
The loser’s consolation prize went to the pairing of Mick Reilly and Barb Tennyson.
Mick Reilly rounded out a profitable day by winning the $20 Lucky Number Prize, with Tony Durkin winning the $10 Lucky Number Prize.
Friday Social Bowls
A record field of 56 players shaped up for social bowls last Friday, August 23.
Both greens were full of players enjoying the conditions. Winners on the day were Bill Hidson, and completing a successful week of social bowls, Rob Hummel.
The winners’ runners up prize went to Chris and Ian Price. Also completing a successful week on the social bowls front, as far as prize winning was concerned, were the team of Shan and Mike Klodinski, who won the losers consolation prize.
The Lucky Number prizes were won by two visitors, Keith Allender and Peter Connolly.
The Joy Johnson Memorial Tournament
As mentioned last week, the Joy Johnson ladies invitational tournament will be held this weekend on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.
As usual it will be a strong field of players with some of the best lady bowlers showcasing their talent.
Fine weather is predicted for the weekend, so why not come along and enjoy the action, while enjoying something to eat and a beverage from the bar.

Membership
2024/25. Full membership: $100 which includes a free pennant shirt, presentation dinner, entry to all club championship tournaments and courtesy bus to all pennant away games provided by ClubMulwala.

Pennant 2024/2025 season -
All Club Mulwala Bowls members are encouraged to play Pennant this coming season.
Club Mulwala warmly welcome any new residents to the region who are interested in playing Pennant this coming season. Please contact the President Wade for any further information.
Pennant Training -
Practise/Coaching will begin from Thursday, September 19 at 10am. This training will continue each Thursday. All Pennant players are urged to attend.
This is a great opportunity to seek advice and refine your bowling skills. The club is very lucky to have secured such an experienced coach and mentor for the bowling community. Geoff, Club Mulwala’s Bowling Coach has also been offering coaching after Tuesday Social Bowls.
Williamstown/Mulwala Sheild –
Over the weekend of August 17 and 18 the club competed against 45 Williamstown players for the prized shield.
Williamstown proved too strong for the Mulwala bowlers. Despite the temperamental weather a great weekend was enjoyed by everyone.
ClubMulwala look forward to hosting Williamstown again next year and reclaiming the Willy/Mul Sheild.
Tuesday Social Bowls -
A wintery day was enjoyed at social bowls by 24 players. Two new members, Marilyn and John Walford were welcomed as well as two visitors from Numurkah.
Winners on the day - Brad Mitchell (skipper), Wade McPherson (3rd), Frank Liberg (2nd), Heie Hansen (lead).
All winners receiving a Club Mulwala voucher. Jan Tabart won the lucky barrel draw, winning a Club Mulwala voucher.
Geoff Bullen won first prize of the raffle, taking home a large meat platter from Hicks Butchery.
Lindsay Evans and Geoff Mitchell each winning bottles of wine.
*NOTE: The change of Tuesday Social Bowls start time for the coming weeks, due to Winter. Now an 11am start.

Uniforms -
Uniform order sheets are currently being distributed to members. Please have this returned to Mel Garth or reception in the club no later than Friday, August 30 so merchandise can be ordered and distributed ASAP.

100 UP Championships – A sheet is on the greens noticeboard for all members to place their name on to enter the 100 Up Championship. Games starting on Sunday, September 8.
“Across the Border “Lawn Bowls Tournament. – September 12 - 15.
$60,000 total prize money. 2 tournaments, held over 4 days. Thursday/Friday Mixed Fours- entry $200 per team.
Saturday/Sunday Open Fours - entry $800 per team. This is a Teir 3 Bowls Australia Ranking Event.
Main event 1st prize is $16,000, prizes to the 10th place.
