Welcome bowlers!
Well, grand final day is done and dusted and what a magnificent showing it was by Chris Fagans Brisbane Lions ...boy did they roar!
The end of the AFL season is truly an indication that bowls season is just a few weeks away and the club has been gearing up for an exciting year ahead.
Yarrawonga Bowls have had an influx of players into the club, so much so that they have entered another team in both mid-week and weekend pennant, which is a great sign for an extremely healthy membership base.
Mondays 2/4/2 saw 24 teams compete with the team of Stev Docking and Cory Phillips claiming first place. Runners up were Glenn Doyle and Marv Hannaford. Jackpot of $48 was claimed by Graeme Thomas and Ross Lloyd.
Wednesday 3 bowl Triples was unfortunately washed out, however the club had a good hit out Tuesday, September 24 away at Barooga for mid-week pennant.
Always a pleasure to travel to one neighbouring club and enjoy their hospitality and a good game of bowls. Thank you for the day Barooga!
The first club event, the 21 up, is coming to the pointy end with Di Day and Claire Sanders set to contest the lady's final and the final 4 men’s semis comprising Gary Sanders vs Mick Crawford and the second semi–K McQualter vs Mick Szabo.
Good luck to all and get down and support them. Keep your eyes on the FB page and in the club for the times they will be played.
The club practice match on Grand Final Eve against Yarra Glen was played with such great spirit and camaraderie.
The Yarrawonga crew performed admirably, and the Yarra Glen team were such great sports supporting the club in one of the best Friday night raffles to date.
Approximately 65 people attend the sausage sizzle and a 2 hour Happy Hour – the rights to the bottle of donated scotch were fiercely contested in a coin toss raising in excess of $100 thanks largely to the efforts of Yarrawonga Bowls very own Di Day.
Thanks to all those who work to make these events a success from buying and cooking the food, the bar staff, maxi for the music, Steve Day for organising, the coach and selectors, the ladies selling tickets, the people cleaning up ..it’s all appreciated and what all community sporting clubs need to thrive and survive ..and we do it very well!
Yarrawonga Bowls hope to see you again next year Yarra Glen.
Good bowling and good health to all.

Wednesday social bowls.
Steady rain saw last Wednesday’s social bowls cancelled. However, social on a Wednesday will continue throughout the pennant season.
The revised format, which has seen a change to nominated 3 bowl pairs over one game of 22 ends, has proved very popular with bowlers.
Name sheets are always up on the bowls office noticeboards, so place your names on the list early in the week, to secure your place in the field.
Single entries are still welcome, as are visitors form surrounding clubs, and bowlers from further afield.
If you are placing your name on the list as a single entry, or as a visitor, please provide your telephone number as well as your name.
Friday social bowls
It’s been another successful season of Friday Social Bowls, and last Friday’s game brought the season to a close.
This is an opportunity to thank those hard-working ladies, who have made Friday Social so popular with YMGCR bowlers, and players from surrounding clubs.
Thanks go out to Vicki Withers, Marie Morffew, Jill Lamson and Lynne Baxter.
24 players participated on the final Friday, and the weather was kind to all. The winners were Jill and Ron Lamson.
The consolation prize went to Greg Green and Andy LeFevre. The lucky number prize went to Greg Fisher. The club look forward to seeing you all for the resumption of Friday Social bowls next autumn.
