On Tuesday we had a great day of bowls and friendship with our visitors from Geelong area. Winners for the day were Paul Hickey, John Doyle, Geoff Wayne and Gavin Lane. Runners up were Ray Bennett, Russell Morrow, Marie Lewsey and Denise Mihan. 3 rd were Michelle Shields, John Potter, Fred Aston and Brendan Leach.

Saturday social was held in the morning so that members could support their chosen ALF team later in the day. In beautiful sunny conditions 12 players took to the greens – Winners were – Graeme McIntosh, Doug Castles and Estelle Hollingsworth. Runners up – Ned Young, Alex Martin and John Dalgleish.
On Thursday the Grand Final of the Mixed Pairs H/C Consistency took place between Marie Lewsey and Paul Hickey against Jude Willett and Ian Bilney. This game proved to be very tight, with great bowling by all the players, at the end the score was tired, which required an extra end to be played, Jude and Ian came out the winners, congratulations to all four players on a very exciting game.
Further games have been played in the Men’s and Ladies pairs during the week. Lynne Pyke and Margaret Watson defeated Maree Lewis and Denise Mihan. Frank Martin and Travis McDonald defeated John Dalgleish and Don Norman. Guy Rowe and Bob Ronnfeldt defeated Peter Howell and Steve Rodway. The following games will be played during the week – Genise McFarlane and Eileen Ide against Marie Lewsey and Maureen Hutson, Guy Rowe and Bob Ronnfeldt will play Frank Martin and Travis McDonald.
Entries are now open for the Men’s and Ladies Club Singles. The first round will be played on Sunday 20 th October commencing at 9.30. Add your name to the entry sheet on the notice board in the Club House, entries close on Sunday 13 th October.
A practice match against Rutherglen will be held on Saturday, October 5, if you have forgotten to add your name to the sheet on the notice board, please give Ian Lewis a call.
The draw for both Weekend and Midweek Pennant was released during the week. Weekend Pennant commences on Saturday 12 th October. A2 will play their first game at Howlong, B2 will be home to Beechworth and B3 are away to Corowa RSL. Midweek Pennant’s first game will be Tuesday 15 th October. A1 are home to Wodonga, B2 are home to Club Mulwala and B3 are also home to Wodonga.
Corowa RSL Bowls Club
Corowa RSL Bowls hosted the first event of the Geelong Goodwill Tour on Monday, September 23.
Twenty-eight Geelong bowlers and Twenty-six RSL Members were sorted into Two Bowl Triples teams.
The overall winners were Gary Brown, Dave Dalton and John Potter +26.
Runners Up were Scott Widdison, Barney McFadgen and Russell Morrow.
Keith Mills the main event organiser welcomed the Geelong District Bowlers and thanked our amazing Volunteers for making the event a huge success.
Wednesday Social Bowls was a "washout", the greens were too wet to play.
Members and Visitors are welcome to join the Social Bowls group, the time sheets are available on the Bowls Veranda.

Julie Holmquest defeated Joan Wood. Lynne Ewison defeated Jenny Petrie.
Wendy Robb defeated Anne Smith. Jenny Lawrence defeated Rhonda Clark.
Men Members Round One
Darryl Brown defeated Tony Coughlin. Round Two, played early.
Alan Holmquest defeated Tim Buggy. Adam Larkins defeated Brian Houlihan.
Members are reminded that Round Two matches are to be played on or before October 6th.
Please organise your own markers and place your names on the "Greens Preparation" list which can be found on the right-side notice board in the bowls office corridor.
Pennant Practice is scheduled for Thursday afternoons between 4pm and 6pm.
Last Friday, September 27 was an Intra Club Pennant Practice match.
The BBQ prior to the bowls was well attended, and once again thankyou to our volunteers.
Ovens and Murray District Pennant commences this month, October, so players should be out practising.

Corowa Indoor Carpet Bowls
On Sunday morning Joe Carnivale had a 20/16 win to become our 2024 Mixed Singles Champion.
After lunch, our Sunday social day saw a tie for first place with the team of Angela Clapton, Ken Pleming, Gloria McCluskey, and Ellen Buckley on 14 and 18 (32), but with the better countback score, leaving Gwen Mills, Helen Bartel, Ian Day, and Glenda Willett having to settle for runners-up.
Tuesday’s winners on 16 and 17 (33) were Joe Wilson, Gloria McCluskey, Glenda Willett, and Merylyn Milthorpe.
Runners-up on 17 and 15 (32) being the team of Helen Bartel, Gwen Mills, Peter Manning, and Joan Adams.
Thursday’s winners on 16 and 15 (31) were Doreen Pleming, Kerry Whalley, and Gus Sander.
Runners-up on 16 and 6 (22) being Helen Bartel, Chris Hendry, and Merylyn Milthorpe.
