Chief organiser Brett Butler described the rodeo, held at the Bundalong custom-built arena, as unbelievable.
“It was amazing the number of people who came and supported it,” Mr Butler said.
“We had a record number of competitors for a rodeo in Australia because we doubled the prize money in each event.
“It attracted competitors from all around the country.
“I thank the local community, the Moira Shire and people throughout Australia for their support.”
Cowboys and cowgirls also had a shot at qualifying to compete on the Teton Ridge Sports American rodeo stage, with a massive $1 million prize on the line.
“We had a few competitors qualify for the American rodeo finals, even from our local region,” Mr Butler said.
Young 17-year-old Benalla girl Molly Harper will be packing her bags for the United States after qualifying in the barrel racing.
Others to qualify were bare back rider Brock Mulhall from Wagga Wagga and saddle bronc rider Coupar Woods from Cobargo.
The Bundalong Rodeo was selected as one three qualifier events across Australia for aspiring rodeo athletes to advance to the East Region Contender Semi-Finals in Lexington, Kentucky on January 23-25, ultimately hoping to punch their ticket to the American Rodeo Championship Weekend at Globe Life Field in April 2025.
Known worldwide as one of the largest stages in the Western sports industry, the American Rodeo provides athletes the opportunity to contend for a $1 million bonus.
Mr Butler said the popularity of the event is growing and is excited to bring two rodeos this summer to the Bundalong arena with second to be held on Australia Day on Sunday, January 26.
And as a huge drawcard popular Australian country singer/songwriter Jade Gibson will also be performing at the Bundalong Rodeo on Australia Day.
