Yarrawonga 8.9.57 defeated St Pats 1.2.8.
The youngest Pigeons proved themselves on a wet track against St Pats this week. A great team effort led by this week’s captain Mac Hargraeves endured a solid victory in slippery conditions.
Bed Saunders stood out again this week with another 5-goal haul. He and Harry Wren are proving to be quite the force in the forward line.
Mac Hargreaves was supported in the middle by some outstanding gut running performances from Sam Cummins and Trey Doric.
The boys have so far shown a willingness to work together as a team in both offence and defence. The future is bright at YFNC.
Goals: N Saunders 5, H Wren 2, W Hammon 1.

The Yarrawonga boys came out strong right from the first bounce and established a clear lead by the end of the first quarter.
Working well as a team, the boys attacked the ball at every opportunity, creating good passages of play and excellent ball movement that resulted in plenty of opportunities for the forward line.
The backline held solid defence against the opposition all day, allowing St Pat’s limited possibilities to score.
Goals: J Commensoli 7, C Clark 4, C McCarty 4, J Cummins 1, J Van Den Bosch 1, L Kaine 1, D Reeves 1.
Coaches Awards: C McCarty, J Commensoli, O Tresize.

In the 2nd and 3rd quarters the St Pats boys turned up the pressure and started to fight back.
It took some great efforts from backmen Ryan Cameron, Xavier Mitchell and Archie Jaques to hold out the St Pats forwards and keep them from scoring easily.
Archie Skehan was also prolific across the wing and it was great to see Bayden Sage and Will Murphy presenting well up forward and getting their hands on the ball.
At the start of the final term the Yarra boys held a 4-goal lead and in a great final effort they managed to extend the lead to 6 goals by the end of the match.
Lucas Eales has fitted well into the team this year as he put on what was possibly a best on ground display.
His effort across the halfback line cutting off St Pat attacks and with some hard running and long kicking he was able to give the forwards many scoring opportunities.
Goals: Jobe Fraser 4, Zac Forge 2, Lucas Eales 1, Gus Saunders 1, Lucas Tonna 1.
Awards: Lucas Eales (Lake Café and Wine Co), Ryan Cameron (Club award), Ryder Stevens (Intersport Wingates) and Jobe Fraser (YMH sock award).
