It was the perfect dress rehearsal for the senior lads, who had already booked themselves a spot in the elimination final playing against the same opposition regardless of the result.
The tag team of Al Reilly and Brayden Beaton inflicted some pain on Picola’s ruck stocks, giving their mids first use.
It was the usual suspects, Sam Ferguson and Jim Irvine who were the major beneficiaries of the silver service, racking up stats all over the ground.
Despite the midfield dominance, the game was proving to be a real arm wrestle with Tungamah only taking a 4-point lead into quarter time.
The Bears were able to convert their ability to win the ball onto the scoreboard in the second quarter, kicking 5 goals to Picola’s 2 giving them a 21-point lead at the major change.
Picola had no answers for Jake “the difference” Henderson as he booted 5 majors for the day and put his best foot forward for selection in the final.
However, not everything went the Bears’ way in the third with Picola fighting back and reducing the deficit to 3 points at the final change.
Jayden Arnold’s massive defensive effort at the start of the last quarter, running back and spoiling what looked to be a certain goal, inspired his teammates who followed his lead and ground out a hard-fought win.
Mitch Adkins’ work rate paid dividends with him getting on the end of 2 sausage rolls, putting the result beyond doubt.
The fashion icons, Tom Lidgerwood and Jye Holcombe, were also amongst the best.
Some say the only reasons they got in the best is because their possessions are more easily recognised now that they are wearing helmets.
The scribe says “I saw Cady Heron wearing army pants and flip flops, so I bought army pants and flip flops.”
Good luck to all sides on their respective final’s campaigns.
Go Bears!

Velvet Prescott had everyone at the ground wincing as he accidentally kicked the football into his opponent. The incident had all on the field walking a bit pigeon-toed for the rest of the quarter.
After this, the quality captain proceeded to punt it over every forward’s head for the day.
Banger Thomson looks like a needle but goes like a sewing machine. Was good to see Grambo back to his best, with his trademark pressure acts and woeful kicking, hitting the stat sheet with a goal assist, sadly for Picola.
All in all, not bad for a bloke who strikes the scribe as a man that eats bananas for the shape rather than the taste.
Xander Smith moves to second place in enjoyable sporting viewing with Dan Ellis out muscling opponents and having them genuinely fearing for their lives.
His right-hand man Kelly was quiet with only 56 clearances.
Dimmy signalled for players to get out of his space in the deep forward. Ironic for a bloke that started CHF.
The Bears squeeze into the top four like Hughes into his footy shorts.

Thirds
Tungamah 11.9.75 def Picola 8.6.54.
Tungamah faced Picola, who sat just above them on the ladder. Lenny opened the scoring with a quick goal, setting the tone early.
The backline showed great effort, with Kade and Charlie leading the charge. The quarter ended tied.
The Bears came out strong in the second quarter, taking control and moving the ball quickly. Archie was reliable in halfback, and Brody's shepherding allowed Xav to apply forward pressure, keeping the team consistent throughout the quarter.
The Bears continued their momentum in the third quarter, reinforcing their dominance.
Despite a few lapses, the team maintained repeated efforts, working hard to secure the ball and limit Picola’s scoring opportunities.
They solidified their lead, heading into the final quarter with a comfortable advantage.
The final quarter began with Malique scoring quick goal, further extending Tungamah's lead. However, the team dropped off slightly, allowing Picola to win the quarter as they fought back. Despite this, the Bears had done enough to secure the victory.
Overall, this was a great game to end the season. Best of luck in the finals boys!

Fourths

The last game for the season saw the young Bears facing a tougher challenge against Picola.
The boys started well but needed to step up the communication and attack the ball more aggressively if they were going to come out on top.
Pax and Darcy stood out with great efforts, helping the team to a narrow lead.
Into the second quarter, the Bears improved significantly, with standout tackles from Noah and Jacob.
Zade executed a brilliant play, and Luke provided constant pressure in the midfield, helping the team extend their lead.
Tunga continued to apply the pressure in the third quarter. Cooper's determination for the ball was impressive, while Jett's work rate and Xav's dominance in halfback energized the team. Tungamah continued to showcase their skills and teamwork, further widening the gap.
In the final quarter, the Bears maintained control, demonstrating resilience and teamwork.
Their strong finish secured a well-deserved victory. Special mention to the league leading goal kicker, Billy Doyle.
Everyone was hoping to see him celebrate 100 goals this season, but congratulate him on 98 goals, such an outstanding effort!

A Grade

With this week unfortunately being A Grade’s last game of the season, the girls wanted to make the most of the game. They came out a bit wobbly for the first 5 mins letting Picola take the lead, thankfully the girls switched on and started to run away with the game.
It was great to see the girls all having fun and keep the structure to their game, with Kim working hard in goals having a blinder.
The final few minutes of the game saw Lauren take centre stage putting in the centre bib on and Maddi going into GS.
It has been a fantastic season with lots of enjoyable moments. Disappointing they couldn’t take it further but A Grade look to build and come back stronger next year!
Awards: Kim- Jaycees, Amy- Free as a bird.
B Grade

The girls really kicked off the game with some solid drives and executed some plays they’ve been working on during training. The Picola shooters were on fire in the first quarter, hardly missing any shots and keeping turnovers to a minimum.
The attacking end truly nailed it in the first half by smoothly feeding into the goal circle, and the shooters were hitting some impressive long-range shots.
The defence was in sync, the girls grabbing quite a few intercepts. The defensive pressure was top-notch across the court, and the team communication was spot on!
The B Grade are heading into the final against Katandra on their turf next Sunday.
The Bears have got to bring their A-game and stay strong to secure another victory against them.

The Bears faced Picola in the last home and away game for 2024. The C Grade didn’t start the way they wanted to and Picola took an early lead (6-11) at quarter time.
A reset in the second quarter saw the game back into level terms (17-17) at the main break.
A tightly contested third quarter saw the Bears down by 2 at the last break (21-23).
The Bears probably played one of their best quarters of the season in the last to take the win by 3.
This cemented 4th position on the ladder with a 11-5 record for the season.
The C Grade have earned the week off before taking on Deni Rovers in the qualifying final in two weeks.

The girls started off slow but quickly found their pace and there was no looking back knowing they had to win to make finals.
The ball was moved swiftly through the court and all loose balls were chased well and the girls fought hard unfortunately ending up being knocked out of the finals by 3%.
The girls have had a great year this year and have improved so much bring on 2025.

The girls took a slow start to the game before they began to put the foot down and begin to show Picola why they were finishing 3rd.
It was great to try some different combinations before heading into the finals, with all the girls putting the skills they have learnt the last 3 weeks into place down the whole court.
It has been a fantastic season seeing the girls continuing to grow individually and as a team.
The Under 17s are looking forward to seeing where the final series takes them.

The teamwork displayed by this team is amazing to watch, always there for each other and very supportive whether it’s on the court or from the bench.
This week wasn’t an easy game like the score reflected. The Under 15s fought all game and stayed switched on and did everything asked from the coaches.
Charli was a pocket rocket in the midcourt, always driving to be an option. Emily was a defensive wall that didn’t let many options into Picola’s attacking circle.

Game day started a little different with both coaches away. The team was lucky to have Sally step in and coach the girls.
Sally read a message from Bern and the girls took the court. The girls went out and played the game which saw goals going in, lots of teamwork and communicating to each other for all 4 quarters.
Well played girls. Big thankyou to Annabelle and Milli for cheering on and too Sally for coaching this week. Greatly appreciated.

The girls had a great game to finish off the season with lots of great plays that they have all perfected throughout the year.
Everyone left all they had on the court with some amazing goals and awesome intercepts.
The coaches are so proud of all that the girls have accomplished this season. It has been a great year watching all of them grow as netballers and young girls.
Thank you so much to the parents for bringing the girls each week and making it all possible. Great job girls!!
