Members of ClubMulwala Snooker Club extend their deepest sympathies to the family of Mr Bob Bellinger, who recently passed away at the age of 99.
Bob was an excellent all round sportsman, who was a talented snooker exponent to be club champion in 1987 and, in many people’s eyes, an even better billiards player.
Bob was a highly respected and admired member of the club who has left great memories.
New member joins club
The snooker club welcome a new member to in “Goff”, who is travelling from Shepparton to join the local competitions.
‘Goff’ is an excellent player, who despite being saddled with a substantial handicap in recognition of his ability, has taken all before him in his initial matches.
Despite a soon to be adjusted handicap, the club are very confident that ‘Goff’ will win many more events whilst also being a great member of the club.
‘Goff’ won his first ever Club Challenge on Monday, July 1 when he defeated Kevin Young in the final frame to pick up the ClubMulwala vouchers.
Kev and ‘Goff’ had to fight their way through a big field to make the final, so congratulations go to them both.
Dave Arazuhaldzic showed off his natural talent when he handed ‘Goff’ his first defeat since joining the club to take out the Diggers Tribute on Monday, July 8.
The final match was an excellent competition, but Dave banked the winners points to add to his chances of taking out this season long cumulative event.
Social events continue to be very well supported and great fun for all competitors. Deb Harbrow continued her excellent mid-season form when she defeated Darren Thompson to claim victory on July 3 whilst Goff cleaned up on July 10 by getting home over evergreen Jason Bassett to take the main prize.
The next annual event is the Bruce Johnstone Cup, which is contested in honour of former Club Secretary, committee member and player who made a great contribution to the ClubMulwala Snooker organisation over many years.
Preliminary rounds will be held on Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16 with the semi-finals and final to be played after the Annual General Meeting on Monday, July 22.
‘Goff’ picks himself as one of the main contenders for this title but there are plenty of contenders who look forward to contesting this best of three frame format every season. Good luck to all players in this prestigious event.
Jack Bassett made a very welcome return visit to snooker competition whilst recently home on holiday from his university study.
Jack may be better known for his tennis exploits, but he is also a very popular member of the snooker club and the club all wish him well with his teaching degree studies.
As can be seen on the ClubMulwala website, its members newsletter and the ClubMulwala Snooker Club Facebook page, the club welcome new members or anyone who may like to give snooker a try. ClubMulwala sponsors the snooker club very generously so value for money ratio for players is very high indeed.
There are a variety of events held every Monday and Wednesday evening and there are plenty of opportunities for new players to join or come along to try facilities out.
The snooker club have two excellently maintained full size tables, which have recently been re-surfaced and a new state of the art lighting system.
The snooker room is available for competition, practice and visitor use, and the club has its own regularly updated handicapping system to ensure players from beginners to advanced level can compete equally.
There are also plenty of experienced and skilled players (including the current Oceania Masters champion) who can help with advice and tips on how to improve your game or perhaps adapt it for those who have played pub or social pool in the past.
Please contact the club on either 0497 062443 or 0418 361779 or visit on a Wednesday evening before 7pm if you would like to give snooker a try.
