This is only one highlight of what promises to be a great day of golf, with a four-person ambrose competition.
The ute is up for grabs for the first hole-in-one on the ninth.
Before the game, you can get tips to improve your swing, with Jody Fleming on hand from 10am to provide some coaching.
There will be other novelty events, including pitching into a bucket that will be floating on a dam.
So get your team together for a great day out, with an 11am assembly for an 11.30am shotgun start.
Last Thursday was versus par, with only a small field. The winner was Vicki Seely on +1 from Fay Harrington -1.
Saturday was stableford and the men contested the coveted Borella Cup, which was won by Geoff McCallum with 39 points.
The A-grade winner was Jarod Sommerfeld 37 from runner-up Barry Barlow 35; B-grade Phil Hodgkinson 34 on countback to Bob Landy; and C-grade winner was McCallum from runner-up Toby Rae 38.
On Wednesday, there was an excellent field of more than 70 players, with many of the Thursday regulars joining this event, there being no competition on Anzac Day.
A-grade winner was Andrew ‘Taffy’ Brunker with 35 points on countback to Mark Thomas; B-grade Ali Ferguson 42 from runner-up Geoff McCallum 40; and C-grade Carol Hardman 37 from runner-up Lee Pattinson 36.
Coming up, we have a fourball best ball event tomorrow, which is the qualifying round for the Eastman Knockout.
Sunday is Diggers’ Charity Day, next Tuesday is the final of the 9-hole knockout and Wednesday is the usual stableford event.
On Thursday, the ladies will play the first round of their championships as well as the monthly medal, then on Saturday, it will be the men’s monthly medal and second round of the ladies’ championships.
There are some other big events in the coming weeks.
The annual corporate golf day is Friday, May 10, and this year’s special guest is one of Deniliquin’s most famous sporting products, Simon O’Donnell.
The competition will be four-person ambrose and the $1100 per team registration includes luncheon, golf and dinner.
One of the better causes that our club supports is the MND Charity Day, which will be held on Sunday, June 2.
The cost is $200 per team which includes an all-day barbecue, a cheese platter after golf, auctions, an MND beanie and a mystery draw for a $200 prize.
So get your team together and support this amazing cause to ‘kill the beast’.
Members and guests are advised that raffles will be held as usual tonight, but due to a private function, meals will not be available.
Raffle tickets will be on sale from 6pm with draws at 7pm.
