The Deniliquin team to represent the club in the Mixed Scramble regional final was decided when the four-person ambrose event was contested on Sunday.

Winning the right to progress to the next round at Rich River Golf Club in October were Brian ‘Billy’ Bourke, Shaun Mills, Ashley Hall and Duncan McQuie who finished on net 56.62 and recorded a narrow win from runners-up Ross Taylor, Craig Manning, Fiona Milward and Troy Grant on 57.25. In third place were Prue Lloyd, Geoff King, Mick Everett and Vince Kelly on 59.
Best of luck to our local team, and hopefully, they can progress past the regional final of this coveted event.
Also contested in the past week was the women’s NSW Keno qualifier, played in conjunction with last Thursday’s two-person ambrose competition.
Winning through to the regional final in late October were Jenny Swainger and Wendy Pearce, as well as runners-up Shandra Simpson and Prue Lloyd.
Overall winners on Thursday were Michael Everett and Ross Pogonoski with net 64.75, with Swainger and Pearce the runners-up on 66.5.
Saturday was a two-person multiplier and the winners were Jane Glowrey and Anita Gorsuch on 89, from runners-up Susan Butcher and Carol Hardman 87.
Third place went to Leigh Chappell and Peter Oddy on 82.
On Wednesday the A-grade winner was Peter Oddy with 39 points from runner-up Leigh Chappell 37, and in B-grade Greg Collins took the prize with an impressive 41 points from runner-up David Grant on 38.
There are a host of major events coming up, starting with the Mary Bradshaw Shield on Tuesday, September 3.
It will be single stableford and have trophies for the scratch winner, grade winners and runners-up, longest drive, nearest the pin and ball comp.

The men’s foursomes championships will be played on Sunday, September 8. Enter online.
Entry forms are also available for the 2024 SunRice Spring Classic.
The fourball best ball stableford event will be played on Saturday and Sunday, September 14 and 15.
As usual, there will be 18 hole events each day, with a combined 36 hole event.
Excellent trophies will be on offer, so get your partner organised and submit an entry form.
Another major event in spring is the Veterans’ Week of Golf, from October 13 to 18. Entry forms are on the club website.
Events in the coming week include stableford on Saturday and Wednesday, stroke and ladies medal on Thursday, then stroke and men’s monthly medal next Saturday.
Friday Night Fun is on again tonight, featuring raffles with quality meals available. Raffle tickets are on sale from 6pm with draws at 7pm, and happy hour is from 5pm to 6pm.
