Goulburn Valley motorsport clubs set for funding boost

Three motorsport clubs in the Goulburn Valley are the latest recipients of a funding boost as part of the latest round of the Victorian Government’s Community Motorsport Program.

More than $33,000 will be injected into local initiatives, with the region’s three clubs to benefit from a total of six grants from the Motorsport Club Assistance Category of the program.

Shepparton and District Car Club will receive $4710 for safety and participation equipment, while Goulburn Motor Cycle Club is the beneficiary of a $8750 funding packet for safety and maintenance, as well as training initiatives for officials and volunteers.

Receiving the largest boost is Cobram Border Junior Motorcycle Club, which will receive a total of $20,000 for safety upgrades, volunteer training and initiatives to encourage women and girls’ participation.

Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said the funding would be focused toward the enhancement of facilities at clubs for members and volunteers and increasing participation.

“Victorians love their motorsports – that’s why we’re making sure women and men, girls and boys, instructors and volunteers have access to quality facilities and programs so they can do their local communities proud,” Gepp said.

In total, 60 grants will be shared among 51 motorsport clubs across the state.
