Rennie 0.0, 0.1, 3.7, 5.9.39.
A beautiful Spring morning greeted the Rennie 17s and support crew as all roads led to Rennie Rec Reserve for the Preliminary Final against first placed Katandra.
The fairy-tale finish did not occur, but the Rennie boys should be very proud of their efforts in a great season. Katandra came out all guns blazing, and the well drilled team put on a masterclass in the first half scoring 5 goals to nil.
However, the boys were not shamed as they got themselves back into the game with a much better performance after the main break. All boys contributed and there were some great passages of play as they moved the ball around the immaculately prepared ground.
However, the strength of Katandra proved to be too much with the final score being 13.6 to 5.9.
For a team that had about 7 players at the beginning of 2021 they have managed to become a very tight unit and are a great bunch of young men.
Big thanks to Jarryd Fountain and assistant coach Terry Lonergan for their efforts and dedication to the team. Also the club thank the parents who umpired, time kept, waved the flags and completed a myriad of jobs.
Also thank the trainers Rhodsey, Shane and Starry for getting on the ground each week and Matt, Kevin, Cyndi and the whole footy committee for all that goes into the club week in and out.
The club also need to thank the catering ladies for being the best in the business. Hopefully all the boys are back next year for another year of thirds or into the seniors.
The future certainly looks bright for the great club. Best: Dom McInness, Jack Bassett, Marcus Van Maanen, Bailey Lewis, Jesse Brogan and Hunter Lonergan.
Another season has passed, and the club wish to thank coaches Haley, Nish, Fountain and Lawless/Strawhorn for their great work.
To the committee thanks for ensuring that the club continue to function as a well-run club, to the catering committee and to the volunteers who make the club who they are and who were so amazing last Saturday.
Special thanks to Craig Marshall for his unerring efforts in keeping the club all lubricated over the last few seasons. On Sunday is the junior presentation at ClubMulwala who are also hosting the Senior presentation next Friday night.
The club thank all sponsors, in particular Mulwala Water Ski Club, Murray Valley Rural Services and Woods Bus Lines, who form such an integral part of who they are.
Rennie wish all clubs who are participating this week the best of luck, but mostly the Hopper 15s and 17s netball who will represent the club brilliantly. Special congrats to Demi and Heleena on their league medals.
